Top Bulls News

  • Bulls' Tobe Awaka: Double-doubles with two stocks

Awaka produced 14 points (6-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-3 FT), 11 rebounds, one steal and one block over 21 minutes in Wednesday's 124-117 preseason win over the Suns.

With Nic Claxton (hamstring) and Zach Collins (toe) already banged up, Awaka is an intriguing guy to monitor this preseason. Though undersized, he's a superb rebounder, so he could earn minutes in the rotation if the Bulls' bigs aren't healthy to start the year.

  • Bulls' Zach Collins: Won't go Wednesday

Collins (toe) won't play in Wednesday's preseason game against the Suns, K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network reports.

Collins will remain sidelined for the Bulls' preseason opener, though head coach Tiago Splitter said he's close to returning, per Johnson. Collins' next chance to play in the preseason will come Friday against Memphis.

  • Bulls' Jaylin Sellers: Won't play Wednesday

Sellers (back) won't play in Wednesday's preseason game against the Suns, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports.

Sellers is dealing with a bout of lower-back soreness. The two-way player's next chance to play is Friday against Memphis.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Won't play Wednesday

Jones won't play in Wednesday's preseason game against the Suns, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports.

Jones will he held out of Chicago's preseason opener. The 26-year-old guard's next opportunity to play will come in Friday's preseason matchup with the Grizzlies.

  • Bulls' Jalen Smith: Starting against Phoenix

Smith will start in Wednesday's preseason game against Phoenix, K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network reports.

Smith will start for the Bulls to begin the preseason. That trend could extend into the regular season, considering Nic Claxton (hamstring) may not be available. Smith started in 21 regular-season games during the 2025-26 campaign, averaging 12.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists over 24.6 minutes per contest in those appearances.

  • Bulls' Zach Collins: Limited at Tuesday's practice

Collins (toe) was a big part of Tuesday's practice, Joel Lorenzi of The Athletic reports.

Coach Tiago Splitter said Collins probably needs a bit more time before getting the green light to return. For now, he can be considered questionable at best for Wednesday's preseason game against the Suns.

  • Bulls' Jordan Hawkins: Inks two-way deal with Chicago

Hawkins signed a two-way contract with the Bulls on Monday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Hawkins will help back up the guard spots in Chicago, but as long as the main guys are healthy, it'll be tough for him to find a meaningful role in the rotation. Through three years of NBA experience, Hawkins owns career averages of 8.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 triples per contest.

  • Bulls' Nic Claxton: Tweaks hamstring

Claxton tweaked his hamstring and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, Chuck Swirsky of the Bulls Radio Network of the Bulls Radio Network reports.

This is a huge blow for Claxton, and it rules him out for the entire preseason. For now, fantasy managers can consider him questionable for Opening Night on Oct. 21 against the Raptors. Jalen Smith is the next man up on the depth chart for Chicago, followed by Zach Collins (toe).

  • Bulls' Caleb Wilson: Adjusting to NBA practices

Wilson is acclimating to NBA practices, per K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network.

"Honestly, my first two days, it seemed like everything was moving so fast because you're going against NBA talent and everybody's athletic, and the gaps close really fast. But now, it's way more chill. [Friday] was a really good day for me," Wilson said. After Wilson was selected by the Bulls with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, the rookie forward is expected to be thrust into a big role immediately and is being treated as a mid-round player in most fantasy drafts.

  • Bulls' Isaac Okoro: Likely to play big role

Okoro is expected to play significant minutes this season, with head coach Tiago Splitter calling him Chicago's "best perimeter defender," Joel Lorenzi of The Athletic reports.

Splitter praised Okoro's physicality, relentlessness and ability to navigate screens while stating that the veteran wing will "definitely" play a lot. Okoro's defensive value should provide him with a consistent path to playing time even within a deep Bulls rotation, though his offensive role could remain relatively modest.

  • Bulls' Isaiah Stevens: Signs on with Chicago

Stevens signed a contract with the Bulls on Thursday.

Stevens was waived by Sacramento in July, but he's since earned another opportunity after putting pen to paper on a deal with Chicago. He's been unable to catch on at the NBA level so far in his young career, and he's likely destined to begin the 2026-27 season in the G League.

  • Bulls' Jalen Smith: Clean bill of health

Smith said Thursday he is 100 percent healthy after a lingering calf issue ended last season early, per Will Gottlieb of CHGO Bulls.

Smith got a chance to start for the Bulls at times in 2025-26 as they searched for Nikola Vucevic's replacement, averaging 12.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.8 blocks in 24.6 minutes per tilt across 21 regular-season games as a starter last season. Now that Claxton is in the picture, Smith appears primed to revert to the No. 2 center role in 2026-27, which could cap his upside from a fantasy perspective. Availability has also been a concern for Smith throughout his career, as he's never reached the 70-game mark in any of his first six seasons and couldn't finish last year with the aforementioned calf problem.

  • Bulls' Jalen Bridges: Signed by Chicago

Bridges agreed to a contract with the Bulls on Wednesday.

The terms of the contract weren't made public, though it's likely a camp deal for Bridges. The 25-year-old went undrafted in 2024. Since then, he has mostly played in the G League. However, Bridges has some NBA experience, logging eight games with the Suns during the 2024-25 campaign and averaging 1.1 points in 3.8 minutes per contest.

  • Bulls' Dailyn Swain: Ready for training camp

Head coach Tiago Splitter expected all of the Bulls to practice for the start of training camp Monday, per K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network.

Swain missed the Summer League finale with wrist soreness but sounds to be ready to go for the start of camp. The rookie first-rounder is set to battle with Isaac Okoro and Patrick Williams for playing time on the wing as a reserve to begin the year.

  • Bulls' Matas Buzelis: To have more freedom offensively

Buzelis expects to have more offensive freedom this season and said he focused on becoming more physical and attacking the rim during the offseason, Joel Lorenzi of The Athletic reports.

The 21-year-old felt he attempted too many three-pointers last season, when 51.4 percent of his field-goal attempts came from beyond the arc, and he wants to incorporate more mid-range opportunities into his game. Buzelis also prioritized adding weight and strength, which could help him play through contact as he looks to build upon his 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.5 blocks per game from the 2025-26 regular season.

  • Bulls' Zach Collins: Managing soft tissue injury

Head coach Tiago Splitter said Monday that Collins (toe) is dealing with a soft tissue injury and isn't expected to practice Tuesday, K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network reports.

Collins' 2025-26 season was cut short after he underwent surgery in February due to a sprained toe on his right foot. It's unclear if the current soft tissue injury is related to the toe, but the big man's status will be worth monitoring ahead of Chicago's preseason opener against Phoenix on Wednesday, Oct. 7. If he's forced to miss time to start the regular season, Jalen Smith would have a much clearer path to playing time behind Nic Claxton.

  • Bulls' Josh Giddey: Cleared for camp

Giddey (ankle) will be a full participant at training camp, Joel Lorenzi of The Athletic reports.

After undergoing ankle surgery in the spring, Giddey will have no restrictions at camp this fall. The star guard is primed for another big season as the Bulls' go-to playmaker, fresh off recording a career-high 17.0 points, 9.1 assists and 8.3 rebounds per game for Chicago in 2025-26.

... See More ... See Less
  • Bulls' Buddy Hield: On the move again to Chicago

The Bulls acquired Hield (and cash) from the Hornets on Saturday in exchange for Rob Dillingham, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Hield was recently traded to Charlotte on Tuesday but is on the move again to Chicago. The 33-year-old has spent time with the Pelicans, Kings, Pacers, 76ers, Warriors and Hawks throughout his career. In 765 regular-season appearances, Hield has averaged 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists over 27.5 minutes per contest. He's also a career 39.5 percent shooter from deep. Hield could have a tough time earning consistent minutes with the Bulls, so his fantasy ceiling isn't very high. While he may only be used situationally, there is a small chance he will see playing time throughout the 2026-27 campaign if there are injuries.

  • Bulls' Drew Peterson: Finds work with Chicago

Peterson signed a training camp contract with the Bulls on Friday.

After spending most of the 2025-26 campaign in the G League, Peterson will compete for a spot on Chicago's regular-season roster. Over 35 G League games between the Motor City Cruise and Greensboro Swarm last season, he averaged 14.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.9 steals in 33.2 minutes per tilt.

  • Bulls' Brandon Boston: Lands camp deal with Chicago

Boston signed a training camp contract with the Bulls on Friday.

Boston is set to compete for a spot on the Bulls' regular-season roster, and the organization also owns his G League rights. The 24-year-old forward appeared in four Las Vegas Summer League games with the Bucks this offseason, averaging 9.2 points in 17.3 minutes per contest.
