The Broncos do not intend to re-sign Nelson (biceps) for 2020, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.
Nelson appeared in just seven contests in 2019, notching 10 tackles (four solo), before suffering a season-ending torn bicep. Now set to become an unrestricted free agent in March, he'll focus his attention on making a full recovery before looking to earn a reserve role elsewhere in the league.

Broncos' Corey Nelson: Moves to IR
The Broncos placed Nelson (biceps) on injured reserve Friday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Nelson suffered a torn bicep during Week 8's loss to the Colts, the second such injury of his career. He underwent surgery to address the issue Wednesday, and he'll now turn his full attention towards recovering in time for the 2020 season. Across seven games this season, Nelson notched 10 tackles (four solo) and played 95 snaps on special teams.

Broncos' Corey Nelson: Done for season
Nelson suffered a torn bicep in Sunday's loss to the Colts and is out for the season, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.
This is the second time Nelson has suffered a torn bicep in his career, as he injured his other arm in 2017 and was forced to miss the second half of the season. Per Jhabvala, Nelson is scheduled to have surgery Wednesday, effectively ending his season. Josey Jewell and Joseph Jones are the only healthy depth linebackers currently left on the roster.

Broncos' Corey Nelson: Comes back to Broncos
Nelson signed with the Broncos on Monday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Nelson was drafted by the Broncos out of Oklahoma in 2014 and was a core special-teams contributor, but he left in free agency with the hope of getting more time on defense. That didn't work out as he bounced around in 2018, eventually playing in one game for the Falcons. He recorded 12 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in the preseason for Tampa Bay and should get some opportunities at inside linebacker, where Denver has been shaky behind starters Josey Jewell and Todd Davis (calf).

Buccaneers' Corey Nelson: Forces fumble in preseason
Nelson logged a tackle and forced a fumble in Friday's preseason game against the Buccaneers.
Nelson forced the fumble on a punt return, but Miami recovered and managed to return 26 yards. In all, he saw 24 defensive snaps and five on special teams. The 27-year-old seems over the knee issue that kept him out of practice earlier in the week.

A potential injury to the recently signed Nelson is troubling news, as Atlanta is extremely thin at linebacker as it is -- sixth-round rookie Foye Oluokun is stepping into the starting lineup this week with Deion Jones (foot) being placed on injured reserve recently. Nelson provides a veteran presence to a Falcons' linebacking corps that has only one healthy player with more than six career starts (De'Vondre Campbell). Nelson's best season came in 2016 when he picked up 61 combined tackles and five pass deflections across 16 games (six starts) for the Broncos.
