Artavis Scott: Signs with practice squad
The Texans signed Scott to the practice squad Wednesday.
Scott visited with the team last week and looks to be in the plans moving forward. The Clemson product hasn't played a game since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2017; he'll start out on the scout team with the Texans and look to work his way up to the active roster.

Artavis Scott: Visits Houston
Scott worked out for the Texans on Friday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Scott, who played at Clemson with Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, previously worked out for Houston. He's kicked around NFL practice squads for three seasons, aligning with the Chargers, Cowboys and Colts since coming out early in 2017. The Texans are well stocked at wide receiver, so they could be looking at Scott as a potential returner. He received considerable experience returning punts and kickoffs at Clemson. Houston currently ranks middle of the pack in both punt (8.0 YPR, 17th) and kickoff returns (20.8, 20th).

Artavis Scott: Cut by Colts
Scott was waived by the Colts on Thursday, Joel Erickson of the Indianapolis Star reports.
Scott spent the offseason in Indianapolis after logging two seasons on the Chargers' practice squad. Although he was reunited with his former quarterback Philip Rivers, it wasn't enough for Scott to carve out a role on the Colts' offense. He'll now look to sign on with a different club ahead of Week 1.

Scott signed a reserve/future contract with the Colts on Friday.
Scott had his practice squad contract with the Chargers expire earlier this week, and he didn't have to wait long before finding a new team. The 25-year-old is still looking to make his NFL debut since going undrafted out of Clemson in 2017.

The Chargers placed Scott (undisclosed) on their practice squad injured list Thursday, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports.
It remains to be seen what sort of injury Scott is dealing with. It's possible that the designation will prevent Scott the opportunity to join Los Angeles' 53-man roster at any point in 2019, but the Clemson product could be eligible to appear with another NFL team if the Chargers release him with an injury settlement at some point.

Artavis Scott: Signs with Dallas' practice squad
Scott signed with the Cowboys' practice squad Monday, Gilbert Manzano of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Scott led the Cowboys in receiving over the preseason, but he wasn't able to survive the slew of roster cuts made Saturday. Over three seasons at Clemson, the 23-year-old caught 245 passes for 2,480 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Scott certainly put together a solid preseason, so it's entirely possible he gets claimed by another team looking for depth at wide receiver. Geremy Davis and Dontrelle Inman were the last two receivers to earn a spot on the 53-man roster.

Chargers' Artavis Scott: Leads team in receiving
Scott recorded four receptions (five targets) and a team-leading 64 receiving yards in the 19-17 preseason loss to the Saints Sunday.
Both Scott and Andre Patton have been impressive in training camp thus far but neither seems to have separated themselves in a quest for the No. 4 spot on the depth chart. It's quite possible both players have already played their way onto the 53-man roster at the expense of Geremy Davis, but a solid conclusion to the preseason will likely solidify the possibility.

Chargers' Artavis Scott: Competing for more snaps
Scott is expected to compete for a prominent role on the Chargers' receiving depth chart behind Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Travis Benjamin, Ricky Henne of the team's official site reports.
The Chargers invested view resources into replacing three-year starter Tyrell Williams in the offseason after the 27-year-old jumped ship to the rival Raiders, instead, Los Angeles looks set to rely on a quartet of young players -- Scott (ankle) and Dylan Cantrell (knee) chief among them -- to compete for the leftover snaps. Scott, an undrafted free agent in 2017, missed his entire sophomore season with an ankle injury but has reportedly done well during offseason OTAs. While Travis Benjamin should hold a prominent role as the team's third receiver, the speedy veteran likely profiles better as a slot decoy, which could open up snaps on the outside opposite of emerging third-year player Mike Williams. Scott's less-than-ideal measurables (5-foot-11, 195 pounds) don't compare to that of Cantrell's (6-foot-3, 226 pounds), at least when it comes to working outside, but considering neither player has actually registered a full season in the NFL, it's possible Scott could emerge as a prime candidate for increased playing time based on his performance during the preseason.

Chargers' Artavis Scott: Staying with Chargers
Scott (ankle) signed a one-year deal with the Chargers on Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Scott went undrafted out of Clemson in 2017, spending his rookie season on the Chargers' practice squad and his sophomore campaign on injured reserve. He made a decent case for a spot on the 53-man roster before injuring his ankle in the final week of the 2018 preseason, but the Chargers probably weren't too upset about stashing him on IR. The 24-year-old slot receiver should be healthy before the start of the offseason program if he isn't already. He'll have an easier path to a roster spot if Tyrell WIlliams and Travis Benjamin aren't still around in Los Angeles.
