David Jones: Parts ways with Lions
Jones (undisclosed) was waived by the Lions on Monday, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Jones signed a reserve/future contract with the Lions at the end of December but was let go Monday while apparently rehabbing from an undisclosed injury. The 25-year-old spent most of the 2018 season on the Patriots' practice squad.

Jones signed a reserve/future contract with the Lions on Monday.
Jones (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) spent the bulk of his rookie season on the Patriots' practice squad after finishing the 2017 season as a third-team All-American at the FCS level. The lanky Richmond product is a promising prospect, and he should have an easier time making a name for himself in Detroit than he would on other teams with more depth in the secondary.

Jones was placed on IR after clearing waivers on Tuesday. If he's healthy enough to pass a physical, he'll be able to sign with another team in the hopes of making a 53-man roster or a practice squad.
