Packers' Kaleb Johnson: Earns five touches in Week 3
Johnson tallied four carries for six yards and gathered in one of three targets for 10 yards during Thursday's 35-14 loss to the Falcons.
The Packers backfield mustered just eight rushes (MarShawn Lloyd had the other four) on a night in which the team was increasingly in catch-up mode, spurring 53 pass attempts from QB Jordan Love. After Johnson was dealt to Green Bay from Pittsburgh on Aug. 30, he didn't receive a snap on offense Week 1, but his offensive snap share increased from 27 percent Week 2 to 36 percent Week 3, while Lloyd's share has gone in the opposite direction, and Chris Brooks' has remained relatively stable. Because the team's RBs have mustered just 146 rushing yards (3.0 YPC) through three games, none of the trio are particularly intriguing for fantasy purposes at the moment, especially behind a makeshift O-line, but Johnson's elevated sway could mean that a stash eventually yields positive results.

Packers' Kaleb Johnson: Limited by backfield timeshare
Johnson compiled eight carries for 32 yards during Sunday's 20-17 overtime win versus the Jets.
Johnson appeared in 16 of the Packers' 59 offensive snaps against the Jets, ending behind Chris Brooks (27) and tying with starter MarShawn Lloyd (16). However, none of them could get anything going, with all three players combining for 63 yards off 18 attempts. Johnson had plenty of hype entering his rookie season with the Steelers in 2025, though he wasn't very involved. With Josh Jacobs (personal) on the Commissioner's Exempt List, there will be snaps up for grabs. While that could mean more involvement from Johnson moving ahead, it seems as if head coach Matt LaFleur will continue to have all three players split carries, which isn't good news for fantasy managers, especially those looking to fill the void left by Jacobs' absence.

Packers' Kaleb Johnson: Produces in few snaps
Johnson returned two kickoffs for 52 yards in Sunday's 39-22 loss to the Vikings.
Johnson played just two special-teams snaps in the contest, touching the ball on each. The third-string running back did not see a carry behind MarShawn Lloyd or Chris Brooks, but he may have earned a bigger role as a returner in a Week 2 matchup against the Jets.

Packers' Kaleb Johnson: Gets traded to Green Bay
The Steelers are expected to trade Johnson to the Packers, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports.
Johnson thus will get a fresh start in Green Bay after the third-round investment made in him last year didn't pan out in Pittsburgh. Working behind Jaylen Warren and Kenny Gainwell in 2025, Johnson turned 28 carries into just 69 yards (2.5 YPC) and no touchdowns while hauling in one of two targets for nine yards in 10 regular-season appearances as a rookie. Johnson will join a Green Bay backfield led by Josh Jacobs (groin) and backed up by MarShawn Lloyd and Chris Brooks.

Steelers' Kaleb Johnson: Sees action late in preseason finale
Johnson carried the ball five times for 11 yards in Thursday's 28-27 preseason loss to the Bills.
It's not an encouraging sign for the 2025 third-round pick that he was the fourth running back into the game for the Steelers, as Johnson didn't get his first touch until the second half, after Lew Nichols, Eli Heidenreich and Travis Homer has all mixed into the backfield. Johnson is coming off a disappointing rookie campaign in which he managed just 69 rushing yards in 10 regular-season contests, and he could be on the roster bubble.

Steelers' Kaleb Johnson: Tallies 54 yards in preseason loss
Johnson turned 10 carries into 39 yards and caught both of his targets for 15 yards during the Steelers' 17-0 preseason loss to the Jets on Friday.
Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle served as the Steelers' one-two punch out of the backfield in the first quarter, with Johnson getting his first touch in the second frame. Johnson ended up playing 24 snaps on offense and led all Steelers running backs in touches and yards. The 2025 third-rounder is currently slated as the RB3 behind Warren and Dowdle on the depth chart, but Johnson's spot on the Steelers' 53-man roster for the regular season is far from guaranteed. Pittsburgh wraps up its preseason Thursday against Buffalo.

Steelers' Kaleb Johnson: In danger of being cut
The Athletic's Mike DeFabo believes Johnson is in real danger of being cut by the Steelers prior to the start of the regular season.
"Cutting a third-round pick one year after he's drafted would be a tough look for the Steelers, but it sure seems to be trending that direction based on the way the carries have been split in practices and in the first preseason game," DeFabo wrote Wednesday. While Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle rested, Johnson played behind both Travis Homer and Lew Nichols in the preseason opener last week and didn't see his first carry until the third quarter. He's buried on the depth chart and continues to make mistakes on special teams, as Johnson was seen getting chewed out on the sideline by special teams coordinator Danny Crossman against Green Bay last Thursday. Considering Johnson doesn't excel on special teams, and Homer does as the person protector on the punt team, the 2025 third-rounder Johnson may be on the outs with the new coaching staff. It might be best for Johnson to get a fresh start elsewhere after playing just 51 offensive snaps across 10 regular-season appearances as a rookie last season.

Steelers' Kaleb Johnson: Set to work behind top RB duo
As the coming season approaches, Johnson is set to compete for depth slotting in a Pittsburgh backfield led by Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle, Brian Batko of the Steelers' official site reports.
Johnson, whom the Steelers took in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, recorded just 28 carries for 69 yards and one catch for nine yards over 10 regular-season games as a rookie. With Warren and Dowdle clearly atop the team's RB depth chart in 2026, Johnson doesn't have a clear path to steady carries in his second year as a pro. Also in the backfield mix are Travis Homer, Lew Nichols and rookie seventh-rounder Eli Heidenreich, but in any case Johnson will be off the fantasy lineup radar as long as Warren and Dowdle are available.

Steelers' Kaleb Johnson: Disappointing workload as rookie
Johnson recorded 28 carries for 69 yards while securing one of two targets for nine yards over 10 appearances during the 2025 regular season.
Although Johnson was a third-round pick by the Steelers in the 2025 NFL Draft, playing time was hard to come by during his rookie year, as he played double-digit offensive snaps in just one game. He was also a healthy scratch for the final three weeks of the regular season. Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell served as the Steelers' clear top running backs throughout the year. Johnson could have a chance to compete for more work in 2026 if Gainwell -- who is slated to become an unrestricted free agent during the offseason -- heads elsewhere. Even if Gainwell plays for another team next year, Johnson could face an uphill battle for playing time as long as Warren remains in Pittsburgh.
