Yankoff was designated to return to practice Jan. 8 but didn't play in last weekend's wild-card win over Tampa Bay. He logged a second straight week of full practices this week, and by being activated, he's now eligible to suit up Saturday night against the Lions. A roster spot opened up for Yankoff after linebacker Jordan Magee was placed on injured reserve Saturday due to a hamstring injury.

Yankoff was also a full practice participant all last week after being designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday. Yankoff suffered a hamstring injury during the practice week and didn't practice Friday after being a limited participant Thursday. The issue appears to be fairly serious, as Yankoff will need to miss at least the next four games while on IR. The tight end's absence is unlikely to impact the Commanders' offensive gameplan much, as Yankoff has played only six offensive snaps on the season. He's been a staple on special teams, though, and will be missed in that regard.
