Colts' Will Mallory: Makes 53-man roster
Mallory has made Indianapolis' 53-man roster.
Mallory missed time early in training camp due to a sore hamstring but is healthy as the regular season begins. Mallory appeared in 12 games as a rookie last season, and the 2023 fifth-round draft pick out of Miami caught 18 of 26 targets for 207 yards. Mallory will be part of a four-man committee at tight end that also includes Kylen Granson, Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree. The Colts are likely to split targets between the foursome.

Mallory had missed time in training camp due to a sore hamstring but looked back to full speed. He's competing with Jelani Woods, Kylen Granson, Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree for playing time in a deep tight end room that lacks a clear No. 1 option. Indy's first preseason game did little to sort the competition other than all five are healthy.

Colts' Will Mallory: Back on field
Mallory (hamstring) participated in OTAs last week.
Mallory finished the 2023 campaign sidelined by an injury, but it appears the 2023 fifth-round selection has fully recovered. Although he was able to contribute 18 receptions and 207 yards in 12 regular-season games during his rookie campaign, he faces a crowded tight end room in Indianapolis with the return of Jelani Woods from a Hamstring injury, as well as holdovers Kylen Granson, Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree.

Colts' Will Mallory: Flashes receiving skills as rookie
Mallory (hamstring) drew one target in Saturday's 23-19 loss versus the Texans but did not haul it in.
Over 12 games in his rookie season, Mallory recorded 18 receptions for 207 yards on 26 targets. At 6-foot-4, 239 pounds, he profiled more as oversized wide receiver than traditional tight end. That's exactly how the Colts utilized him in 2023, and at least from an efficiency standpoint, he fared fairly well.

Colts' Will Mallory: Just one reception in win
Mallory had one reception for 19 yards on his only target in Sunday's win over the Raiders.

Colts' Will Mallory: Four receptions in loss
Mallory had four receptions for 47 yards on four targets in Sunday's 29-10 loss at Atlanta.
The Colts featured Mallory and fellow tight end Kylen Granson (five receptions for 62 yards) more prominently in the passing game with top target Michael Pittman sidelined with a concussion. The duo were the top two Colts in receiving yards, which is more of a sign of how the Indianapolis passing game struggled. Mallory played on 27 of the offense's 71 snaps, running routes on 22 of those plays. In addition to Mallory and Granson (28 snaps), Drew Ogletree (17 snaps) and Mo Alie-Cox (19 snaps) also saw action at tight end. The Colts' tendency to use a messy four-man rotation at tight end makes it difficult to count on Mallory for fantasy purposes, even coming off a strong outing in Week 16.
