Darrius Shepherd: Cut from practice squad
Shepherd has been let go from the Broncos' practice squad, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Shepherd joined Denver as an undrafted free agent in early August. He failed to earn a spot on its 53-man roster during final cuts but subsequently reverted to the practice squad. He has seemingly not showed enough to hang on to a spot and will now be free to look for a new opportunity.

Darrius Shepherd: Winds up on Broncos' practice squad
Shepherd was signed to the Broncos' practice squad Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
Shepherd originally joined the team in early August as an undrafted free agent out of North Dakota State, but he was subsequently waived. Denver opted to keep the rookie in the organization with a spot on the practice squad, but Shepherd's unlikely to be elevated to the main roster in 2022.

Broncos' Darrius Shepherd: Headed to Denver
Shepherd signed a contract with the Broncos on Thursday, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
Shepherd's signing comes a day after the Broncos placed Tim Patrick (knee) on IR. The former last saw NFL action in 2020 with the Packers, making five catches on eight targets for 46 yards in eight contests. Last season, he bounced around between the Steelers, Vikings, Cardinals and Chiefs' practice squads, then spent the summer playing with the New Jersey Generals of the USFL.

Shepherd spent training camp in Kansas City but was unable to make the initial 53-man roster. The 26-year-old appeared in 14 games for Green Bay over the previous two seasons and has six catches for 47 yards while also operating as a return man.

Shepherd was waived by the Chiefs on Monday, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports.
The third-year wide receiver spent the last two years with the Packers getting work as a returner, tallying 374 return yards. The Chiefs' special teams coordinator called Shepherd a sure-handed returner, so he might be brought back as a practice squad member or signed by a different team that is desperate for a kick returner.

Darrius Shepherd: Waived by Packers
Shepherd was released by the Packers on Tuesday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
With Allen Lazard (core) now healthy, Shepherd simply did not have an opportunity to do much from an offensive perspective, reinforced by the two snaps he played in Sunday's game against the Bears. The fact Shepherd was also dreadful as a special teams player certainly didn't help, as the 25-year-old only averaged 20.6 yards per kick return across 11 attempts, also coughing up a critical fumble in a pivotal loss to the Colts two weeks ago. It's possible the depth wideout could return to the team's practice squad should he pass through waivers.
