Islanders' Adam Pelech: Gets help on helper
Pelech was credited with an assist in Friday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets.
Upon finding an open lane, Pelech fired the puck at the net and teammate Kyle Palmieri squared up at the doorstep for the deflected goal. It wasn't the prettiest way to get his team on the scoreboard, but between the helper, three blocked shots and four shots on goal, Pelech ended up with a fairly strong fantasy performance. The top-pairing defenseman has five goals, 14 assists and a plus-15 rating through 52 games.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Adam Pelech: Registers two helpers in win
Pelech posted two assists in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Ducks.
Pelech helped out on goals by Kyle Palmieri and Brock Nelson. The pair of helpers ended Pelech's six-game point drought, and Wednesday was his first multi-point effort since Nov. 17. The defenseman has 18 points, 66 shots on net, 67 hits, 83 blocked shots, 34 PIM and a plus-12 rating through 49 contests.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Adam Pelech: Team-best rating
Pelech is tied for the team lead with a rating of plus-13 entering the game Thursday versus the Penguins.
If not for the concussion that Pelech suffered midseason that cost him 21 games, this likely would've been a career year for him. Pelech is already tied for his career high in goals with five, yet he has still been defensively responsible. The Islanders are trying to hold onto one of the two wildcard spots in the Eastern Conference and will need Pelech to be at his best in order to do so.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Adam Pelech: Lights lamp Friday
Pelech scored a goal in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Kings.
Pelech's third-period tally was the last goal in the game, as the Islanders' comeback effort fell short. It was his first goal since Nov. 26, and his first point since Feb. 9. The 28-year-old defenseman doesn't generate a ton of offense, and his 15 points in 41 outings this season is not that different from the 28 points he logged in 78 games a year ago. Pelech has added 55 shots on net, 62 hits, 68 blocked shots, 32 PIM and a plus-12 rating in his usual top-four role in 2022-23.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Adam Pelech: Goalless in last 16 games
Pelech hasn't lit the lamp in his last 16 games.
Pelech does have three goals and 14 points in 39 games this season but only four points, all assists, in those last 16 contests. While the Islanders don't rely on much offense from Pelech, they do need him to be a strong force in his own zone, especially with the team dealing with multiple injuries to their offensive corps.... Islanders' Adam Pelech: Gathers helper in loss
Pelech logged an assist, four hits, two blocked shots, two shots on goal and four PIM in Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Canucks.
Pelech's offense is starting to come around -- he has three helpers over his last four contests. He struggled initially after returning from a head injury that cost him six weeks. The 28-year-old defenseman is up to 14 points, 44 shots on net, 51 hits, 55 blocked shots, 32 PIM and a plus-12 rating through 34 appearances this season while playing in his usual top-four role alongside Ryan Pulock.... Islanders' Adam Pelech: Hasn't found his game yet
Pelech has struggled over his last five games since returning from a concussion.
Pelech only has one point, an assist, in those games, but what is much more concerning is that he has a rating of minus-2 in those contests. That rating is even though the team has only allowed nine goals total in those five games. Perhaps a slow start from his return is to be expected as Pelech rounds himself back into form after missing 21 games due to the injury. Pelech will look to get back to the player considered to be the best defensive defenseman for the Islanders on Tuesday when they host the Kraken.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Adam Pelech: Removed from IR
Pelech (head) was taken off injured reserve ahead of Monday's matchup with Toronto, per the NHL media site.
Pelech looks set to play for the first time since Dec. 6 versus the Blues, a stretch of 21 games on injured reserve. The Toronto-born defenseman figures to pair up with long-time partner Ryan Pulock on the Isles' top pair. Despite his return to the lineup, Pelech won't offer more than middling offensive production, having reached the 20-point mark just twice in his seven-year NHL career.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Adam Pelech: Skating with teammates
Pelech (head) participated in an optional skate with several other players Thursday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
This would be the next step in his progression toward a return to the lineup. Pelech will miss his 16th straight game Thursday versus the Wild. The team would like Pelech to take part in a full practice before returning to game action, but that could be difficult, as the Islanders have four games in the next six nights and nine games in the next 16 days before the All-Star break. Practice time will be limited for the team. Pelech won't play Thursday, and even Saturday versus the Canadiens would seem unlikely, but perhaps Monday against the Capitals could be a legitimate option.... See More ... See Less

Pelech, who is dealing with a suspected concussion, has yet to begin, skating coach Lane Lambert told reporters Wednesday, per Andrew Gross of Newsday.
Pelech has already been out of action for the previous nine contests and looks no closer to getting back onto the ice. As long as the defenseman isn't sidelined too much longer, he should still have enough time to get back over the 20-point threshold for the second consecutive season.... See More ... See Less

Islanders' Adam Pelech: Status for road trip undecided
Pelech's (upper body) status for the Islanders' trip out west that begins Friday in Arizona has yet to be determined, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
It may take a couple of days to figure out if Pelech is close enough to a return to make it worth him traveling with the team. He's missed three games already and could be placed on injured reserve if he doesn't make sufficient progress prior to the inter-conference part of the Islanders' road trip.... See More ... See Less
