Islanders' Adam Pelech: Ends point drought with goal
Rotowire
Pelech scored a goal, put two shots on target and blocked a shot in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Avalanche.
Pelech ended a 16-game point drought Thursday with a goal near the midway point of the second period, which gave the Isles a 4-0 lead. With the twine finder, Pelech grabbed his first goal of the season and is up to three points, 42 shots on goal and 43 blocks through 28 games this season. While the 11-year NHL veteran isn't known for his goal scoring, he's reached the 15-point mark in each of the past four seasons but is at risk of losing that streak this year. Despite losing some playing time to rookie sensation Matthew Schaefer, Pelech is still averaging 20:00 of ice time and has the opportunity to bounce back while skating on the Islanders' second defensive pairing. He's best left on waivers in fantasy for the time being, but if he starts to find the scoresheet with some consistency, he could have some streaming value in deep fantasy leagues due to his solid category coverage.

Pelech helped out on a Kyle Palmieri equalizer in the third period. This was Pelech's first point through five games. The 31-year-old blueliner will be leaned on for shutdown minutes this season, perhaps even more so with a couple of capable offensive defensemen in Matthew Schaefer and Tony DeAngelo on the roster. Pelech has racked up three blocked shots, seven shots on net and a plus-4 rating to begin the campaign.

Islanders' Adam Pelech: Cleared for camp practices
Rotowire
Pelech (undisclosed) participated in Thursday's practice, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Per Gross, Pelech is wearing a shield to protect his jaw after taking a puck to the mouth recently. The defenseman also told reporters he is fully healthy and ready to play, so the jaw shield appears to just be a precaution. He plays a physically taxing style and has missed over 20 games in each of the last three seasons, though he should be a regular in the lineup when healthy. Pelech had 21 points (all assists) with 87 blocked shot and 73 hits in 60 regular-season games in 2024-25.

Islanders' Adam Pelech: Good to go Tuesday
Rotowire
Pelech cleared concussion protocol and will be available versus Washington on Tuesday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Pelech will avoid missing any games after being forced to exit Sunday's clash with the Devils after just 9:06 of ice time. The 30-year-old defenseman is not exactly known for his offensive upside, as evidenced by the fact that he has yet to find the back of the net in 59 games this season. Pelech has rushed out 21 helpers, however, getting him back over the 20-point threshold for the third time in the last four years.

Islanders' Adam Pelech: Records helper Saturday
Rotowire
Pelech posted an assist, two blocked shots, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Sharks.
This was Pelech's first point over four outings in March. The 30-year-old defenseman won't typically put up big scoring numbers -- it's his physical and defensive play that draws modest attention in deep fantasy formats. For the season, Pelech has 16 helpers, 82 shots on net, 66 hits, 60 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating over 42 appearances. While the Islanders are currently carrying nine blueliners on the roster, it doesn't look like Pelech is in any danger of slipping out of the lineup.

He's managed 15 assists, 76 shots on net, 57 blocked shots, 51 hits and a plus-4 rating across 38 appearances. Rotowire
Pelech notched an assist, four shots on goal, two blocked shots and two PIM in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Maple Leafs.
Pelech has two assists over his last three games. He went five contests without a point immediately after his return from a jaw injury, but it appears the 30-year-old is getting back into a groove on the second pairing. For the season, he has six assists, 40 shots on net, 26 hits, 25 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating over 19 appearances. Pelech's usage is mainly defensive, so he's unlikely to attract a lot of interest in fantasy.

Islanders' Adam Pelech: Skating in non-contact jersey
Rotowire
Pelech (jaw) took the ice for the first time Thursday while wearing a non-contact sweater, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Pelech looks to be making strides in his recovery but won't be available to return to the lineup until he is cleared for contact. At that point, fantasy players can probably start considering him day-to-day. In the meantime, Isaiah George should continue to see big minutes for the Islanders while playing alongside Noah Dobson.

Rotowire
Pelech didn't return to Friday's game against the Sabres after taking a puck to the face in the second period, Ethan Sears of the New York Post reports.
There was no update on Pelech's status after the contest, leaving him questionable for Sunday's game against the Rangers. With Mike Reilly (upper body) also exiting Friday's contest, the Islanders may need to call up a defenseman if neither injured blueliner is able to suit up.

Pelech logged an assist, three shots on goal and three hits in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Devils.
Pelech is up to four helpers through seven contests, a surprisingly fruitful start to the year for the shutdown blueliner. He's added 11 shots on net, 14 hits, seven blocked shots and a minus-1 rating. Pelech typically plays in a second-pairing role, but he doesn't have a clear path to power-play time, so it's unlikely he's able to continue producing a point roughly every other game.
