Top Eeli Tolvanen News

  • Predators' Eeli Tolvanen: Puts away goal

Tolvanen scored a goal on two shots and added three hits in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Coyotes.

Tolvanen had been a healthy scratch for three of the previous four games, putting his place in the lineup in doubt heading into the postseason. The 23-year-old winger was a victim of the sophomore slump -- he had 11 goals and 12 assists for a career-high 23 points this year, but it took him 75 games after he put up 22 points in 40 contests the year before. Tolvanen added 176 hits, 151 shots on net and a minus-7 rating this season.

  • Predators' Eeli Tolvanen: Sets tone in win

Tolvanen recorded a goal in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Blackhawks.

Tolvanen's ice time (9:10) was near a season low, but he still managed to go top shelf for the game's first tally. This goal was particularly clutch because it leaves the Preds in a tie with the Stars for the first wild card spot out of the Western Conference.

  • Predators' Eeli Tolvanen: Closing in on career numbers

Tolvanen notched a goal and an assist on three shots in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs.

Tolvanen's been a bit streaky this year, but he's now up to 20 points on the season and should easily surpass the 22 points he put up last year. If you can stand the ups and downs, he represents decent value in deeper formats.

  • Predators' Eeli Tolvanen: Ends six-game point drought

Tolvanen notched an assist and two hits in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Kraken.

Tolvanen set up a Matt Duchene tally at 14:36 of the second period. The assist ended a six-game point drought for Tolvanen, who has seen himself demoted to the fourth line in recent contests. The Finnish winger has had an uneven year with 17 points, 117 shots on net, 119 hits and a plus-2 rating in 51 appearances, a lower pace than his 22-point campaign in 40 contests from last season.

Tolvanen provided an assist in a 3-1 loss to the Canucks on Tuesday.

Tolvanen contributed a power-play assist on Philip Tomasino's second period goal Tuesday. The 22-year-old has four assists over his last 12 contests but has not scored a goal since he made it four-straight games with a goal against New Jersey Dec. 10. The left winger has seen plenty of power play time this season but has scored only 14 points in 41 games after putting up 22 points in 40 games last season.

  • Predators' Eeli Tolvanen: Adds assist, six hits in win

Tolvanen chipped in an assist and six hits in a 4-2 win over the Coyotes on Saturday.

Tolvanen ended a four-game pointless slide with the assist Saturday, helping out on teammate Yakov Trenin's first period goal to give the Preds a 2-0 lead early on. The 22-year-old left winger now has five goals and eight assists through 36 games. In 40 games last season, he had 11 goals and 11 assists, so he may fall a bit short of those rates this season. While he's spent a similar amount of time on ice on the power play this season compared to 2020-21, his scoring output has been much diminished in those situations, which may account for the scoring gap.

  • Predators' Eeli Tolvanen: Snaps 22-game goal drought

Tolvanen scored a goal in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over Montreal.

The goal ended a 22-game goal drought. Tolvanen deflected a one-time slapper from the left point over Jake Allen's left shoulder to put the Preds up 1-0. He has struggled to replicate his strong production from last season, so let's hope the goal gets a major monkey off his back. Tolvanen has seven points (two goals, five assists) in 24 games.

  • Predators' Eeli Tolvanen: Gathers assist in loss

Tolvanen produced an assist, two shots on goal, two hits and two PIM in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Avalanche.

Tolvanen set up linemate Luke Kunin for a goal in the second period. The assist ended a three-game point drought for Tolvanen, though he's now gone 20 contests without a goal after scoring his only tally of the year on Opening Night. The Finn has six points 56 shots on net, 34 hits and a plus-2 rating in 21 games. A lot of his struggles so far can be chalked up to bad luck -- he shot 16.9 percent last year but is converting at just a 1.8 percent rate in 2021-22. He'll bounce back eventually.

  • Predators' Eeli Tolvanen: Adds pair of helpers Saturday

Tolvanen snapped a three-game pointless skid with two assists (one on the power play) in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Coyotes.

Now with just four points in 15 games this season, Tolvanen still doesn't boast much fantasy value in most formats, especially since he's still playing mostly in a checking-line role at even strength. However, he does see time on the power play, where two of his four points have come this season, so that makes him worth keeping an eye on. He's also third on the team in shots on goal with 38. Bottom line -- lots of potential here.

Tolvanen recorded a power-play assist and two shots on goal in Friday's 3-2 win over the Canucks.

Tolvanen set up Roman Josi's goal at 5:49 of the first period. It's been a slow start to the year for Tolvanen, who has just two points despite adding 31 shots on net through 11 contests. The Finn has dropped down the lineup into a fourth-line role, though his continued presence on the top power-play unit bodes well for his ability to turn things around on offense.

  • Predators' Eeli Tolvanen: Good to go

Tolvanen (upper body) will play Tuesday versus San Jose, Adam Vingan of The Athletic reports.

Tolvanen exited Sunday's win over Minnesota with an upper-body issue, but whatever forced him from that contest evidently wasn't overly serious. The 22-year-old winger is expected to slot into his usual spots on Nashville's second line and second power-play unit against the Sharks.

  • Predators' Eeli Tolvanen: Leaves Sunday's game

Tolvanen (upper body) left Sunday's game against the Wild and will not return.

Tolvanen took a nasty hit into the boards from Jared Spurgeon and immediately left for the locker room in the first period. He saw just 1:18 of ice time before leaving the game. An update on his status should be available before Tuesday's game against the Sharks.

  • Predators' Eeli Tolvanen: Tallies in loss Thursday

Tolvanen scored a goal on a team-high six shots in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Kraken.

It took just 3:18 into the first period for Tolvanen to net the Predators' first goal of the year. The Finn established himself last season with 22 points in 40 games, including 12 power-play points. He shot 16.9 percent, so his efficiency will likely drop a bit. An increased role in the top six and on the first power-play unit should keep him on the fringe of fantasy rosters in standard formats.

Tolvanen produced an assist and two hits in Friday's 3-1 win over the Blackhawks.

Tolvanen had the secondary assist on Ryan Johansen's second-period marker. The 22-year-old Tolvanen has two points in as many games since he returned from a lower-body injury that kept him out of the lineup for two weeks. The Finn is up to 21 points, 54 shots on net, 65 hits and a minus-6 rating through 33 outings. His solid production has made him a top-six option for the Predators.

  • Predators' Eeli Tolvanen: Provides jolt of offense

Tolvanen (lower body) scored a goal on three shots and dished out three hits Wednesday in a 5-4 overtime loss to Chicago.

Back in the lineup for the first time since April 6, the 21-year-old parked himself on top of the Chicago crease and tapped home a Viktor Arvidsson centering feed, tying the game at 1-1 late in the first period. Tolvanen was enjoying the most productive stretch of his young career prior to his injury, and he's now landed on the scoresheet in eight of his last 10 games, picking up five goals and six assists during that stretch. His shooting percentage (20.4) is likely to regress, but Tolvanen has first-round pedigree and is very much a name to remember for 2021-22.

  • Predators' Eeli Tolvanen: Making return Wednesday

Tolvanen (lower body) isn't listed among the scratches Wednesday against the Blackhawks, which means he'll make his return to the lineup.

Tolvanen's set for his first game action since April 6. He had been on a roll prior to sustaining the injury, racking up 10 points in his last nine games. While Tolvanen's exact spot in the lineup is unknown, he'll likely be deployed in a top-six role.
