Top Roope Hintz News

  • Stars' Roope Hintz: Dishes pair of assists

Hintz notched two assists and a plus-3 rating in Monday's 5-0 win over the Sharks.

Hintz got on the scoresheet for the first time in three games this season with the pair of helpers. He set up Miro Heiskanen's opening tally late in the first period and also assisted Jamie Benn's goal to stretch the Dallas lead to 3-0. Hintz has functioned in a top-six role to start the year, adding three shots on net, seven hits and a plus-1 rating. The Stars have a fair amount of balance between the first and second lines -- neither trio is likely to see heavy ice time in most situations.

  • Stars' Roope Hintz: Set for 2026-27 season

Hintz (hamstring) will be ready for the start of the 2026-27 campaign, per Owen Newkirk of DLLS Sports on Monday.

Hintz appeared in two of Dallas' four preseason games and is back to full health after a hamstring injury sidelined him for 26 straight games, including the playoffs, to conclude the 2025-26 campaign. Hintz had 15 goals, 44 points, 126 shots on net and 60 hits in 53 appearances for Dallas last year.

  • Stars' Roope Hintz: Mending from hamstring injury

Hintz (hamstring) believes he was close to returning to the lineup after dealing with a setback in his recovery, according to Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News on Monday.

Hintz, who tore his hamstring in two spots, was hopeful that he could have played in Game 2 or 3 had the Stars advanced to the second round of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, he will have the summer to recover fully after Dallas' first-round exit at the hands of Minnesota on Thursday.

  • Stars' Roope Hintz: Unlikely to return in first round

Head coach Glen Gulutzan said Tuesday that Hintz (lower body) has been ruled out for Thursday's Game 6 against the Wild, and he's unlikely to play in a potential Game 7, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Hintz had already been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 5 against Minnesota, and it seems unlikely that he'll return at any point during the Stars' first-round series. It's not yet clear whether he'll be in the mix to return at some point during the second round if Dallas advances.

  • Stars' Roope Hintz: Resumes skating

Hintz (lower body), who has been ruled out for Saturday's Game 4 against the Wild, resumed skating Wednesday, Mark Lazerus of The Athletic reports.

Head coach Glen Gulutzan said Thursday that Hintz is also highly doubtful for Tuesday's Game 5, but it at least appears as though the 29-year-old is trending in the right direction. The Stars want him to be able to skate with the whole team before he's in the mix to return, and it's not yet clear when that could occur.

  • Stars' Roope Hintz: Doubtful for Game 4

Hintz (lower body) is doubtful for Game 4 against Minnesota on Saturday, Sam Nestler of DLLS Sports reports.

While there's a chance that Hintz will join the team ahead of Saturday's matchup, he won't accompany his teammates to Minnesota for Game 3 on Wednesday. He has been out since getting injured against Colorado on March 6. According to Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News, the Stars hope Hintz will be an option for Game 5 against the Wild next Tuesday.

  • Stars' Roope Hintz: Remains unavailable

Hintz (lower body) won't play in Game 3 against Minnesota on Wednesday, per Owen Newkirk of DLLS Sports.

Hintz hasn't been skating and has been out since March 6 against Colorado due to the injury. It remains unclear when he will return to the lineup. Hintz concluded the 2025-26 regular season with 15 goals, 44 points, 126 shots on net and 60 hits in 53 appearances.

  • Stars' Roope Hintz: Will miss two playoff games

Hintz (lower body) won't be available for the first two games of the Stars' playoff run, Robert Tiffin of D Magazine reports Tuesday.

That effectively rules out Hintz for at least another week. Head coach Glen Gulutzan didn't sound optimistic about Hintz's status beyond that, which could endanger his participation in the rest of the first round.

  • Stars' Roope Hintz: Out for remainder of regular season

Hintz (lower body) is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season and is questionable for Game 1 of the postseason, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Hintz has missed the last 17 games with the injury. He has 15 goals and 29 assists across 53 appearances this season. Once he returns for Stanley Cup playoff action, he should return to his role as a top-two center.

  • Stars' Roope Hintz: Out indefinitely

Hintz (lower body) will be out for an extended period of time, Brien Rea of Victory+ reports Saturday.

Hintz sustained the injury in Friday's 5-4 shootout loss to Colorado. He still has to meet with another doctor to determine how to proceed with his recovery, but head coach Glen Gulutzan is hopeful that Hintz could return before the start of the playoffs. The 29-year-old Hintz has 15 goals, 44 points, 126 shots on net and 59 hits across 53 appearances this season.
