Stars' Alexei Lipanov: Flipped in minor-league deal
Lipanov was traded to the Stars from the Lightning in a swap for Tye Felhaber on Tuesday.
Lipanov has struggled to even break into the AHL this season, appearing in just one game for the Crunch. Instead, the Russian center has been featuring primarily in the ECHL where he has just one point in eight contests. Selected by the Lightning in the third round of the 2017 NHL Draft, Lipanov will now have to try to prove himself in the Stars' system before becoming a restricted free agent his offseason.

Lightning's Alexei Lipanov: OHL struggles continue
Lipanov picked up a pair of assists in OHL Kitchener's 8-4 victory over Erie on Wednesday.
Lipanov was viewed as a high-floor/low-ceiling prospect when drafted 76th overall by Tampa Bay in 2017 and his stock has since cratered. He has displayed no ability to score at the OHL level (he has eight goals and 23 points in 44 games this season for Kitchener), and he is somehow rocking a minus-30 rating on a club that currently sports a record above .500 (24-23-3). Lipanov, who will turn 20 years old in August, has youth on his side, but he is trending towards non-prospect status.

Lightning's Alexei Lipanov: OHL career off to fast start
Lipanov posted a goal and two assists to help lead OHL Barrie to a 7-5 victory over Erie on Thursday.
With 13 points in his first nine games, Lipanov's first season in North America is off to a fast start. Of course, he is centering fellow countryman Andrei Svechnikov, who has a chance to be the top overall selection in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Lipanov is strong defensively for a 19-year-old and he already has two shorthanded tallies this season. He is a player to monitor in keeper/dynasty leagues.

Lightning's Alexei Lipanov: Pens entry-level contract
Lipanov put pen to paper on a three-year, entry-level deal with Tampa Bay on Thursday.
Lipanov joined OHL Barrie for his first taste of North American hockey this year and has already picked up an assist in his first two games. A third-round pick by the Lightning in this season's draft, he's a ways from contributing at the NHL level, but Lipanov stood out in international play last season, so he merits watching in dynasty formats.
