Bruins' Michael DiPietro: First NHL shutout
DiPietro made 28 saves in a 6-0 win over the Predators on Thursday.
It was DiPietro's first NHL shutout and his second NHL win. His first came last Friday in a 4-2 victory against the Ducks. It's been a long haul for DiPietro, who made his NHL debut in 2018-19 with Vancouver. He had started two games and appeared in four before this season, spending the rest of his pro career in the AHL. DiPietro has talent -- he went 34-8-1 with three shutouts, a 1.91 GAA and .930 save percentage last season with Providence of the AHL. And now he has finally gotten his shot at an NHL gig. Expect him to get about 25 starts this season, and at this rate, he's going to deliver strong totals in daily formats given his talent and the strong team system.

DiPietro will look to pick up where he left off, as the 27-year-old netminder earned his first career NHL win against the Ducks on Friday. Overall, he's played well with a 1-1-0 record, a 2.54 GAA and a .912 save percentage across 57 shots on net between two appearances. The two-time reigning Aldege "Baz" Bastien Memorial Award winner is beginning to transfer his AHL success to his opportunities with Boston, making him one of the top stash options between the pipes in deep fantasy leagues. He'll be matched up against the Predators on Thursday, who provided him a favorable matchup with the NHL's 21st-ranked offense at 2.88 goals per game.

Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Earns first NHL win
DiPietro stopped 25 of 27 shots in Friday's 4-2 win over the Ducks.
DiPietro has been chasing his first NHL win since 2018-19 when he debuted with the Canucks. The 27-year-old finally got it Friday, though he had a shaky start when he allowed two goals late in the first period. This was his second start of the campaign, and he's allowed a modest five goals on 56 shots so far while going 1-1-0. DiPietro isn't likely to see a lot of time behind Jeremy Swayman, who will probably get the nod Saturday versus the Kings.

The 27-year-old netminder excelled in the AHL during the 2025-26 regular season, posting a 1.91 GAA and a .930 save percentage in 45 outings, but he's searching for his first win at the NHL level. It might be difficult to get that victory over Anaheim, which is off to a strong start with a 4-2-0 record and an average of 3.33 goals per game.

DiPietro stopped 26 of 29 shots in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Wild. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.
The Wild controlled the last two periods, but DiPietro put in a fairly good effort. The 27-year-old netminder is filling an NHL role on a full-time basis for the first time. DiPietro has some fantasy upside in more favorable matchups than this one, but his playing time could be limited to 20-25 games as Jeremy Swayman's backup. The Bruins don't have a back-to-back over the next week, so it's unclear if DiPietro will get another chance to resume the hunt for his first win in the near future.

DiPietro was recalled on an emergency basis Tuesday and backed up Joonas Korpisalo on Thursday in Boston's 4-2 win over Columbus, and he made two saves in the second period while Korpisalo was being checked out following a collision in the crease with Miles Wood. DiPietro was called up as Jeremy Swayman was given the night off after winning Olympic gold for the United States on Sunday in Italy.

DiPietro was recalled from AHL Providence on Tuesday on an emergency basis, according to Scott McLaughlin of WEEI.
This is DiPietro's second call-up under emergency conditions in the last week, as he'll continue to help the Bruins in practice as a result of Jeremy Swayman and Joonas Korpisalo competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics. The NHL season resumes Wednesday, but the Bruins aren't back in action until Thursday versus Columbus, so Swayman should be back with the team by then after winning the gold medal Sunday. If that's the case, DiPietro will probably be sent back to Providence in the near future.

DiPietro has been superb for Providence so far, going 6-0-0 with a 2.17 GAA and a .929 save percentage in six starts. The 26-year-old is doing everything he can to force the Bruins' hands for a call-up, but there's no room for him in the NHL when both Jeremy Swayman and Joonas Korpisalo are healthy and playing well.
