Lucchini was placed on waivers by Ottawa on Wednesday, TSN's Chris Johnston reports.
Assuming he clears, Lucchini will no doubt be reassigned to AHL Belleville which will open up a roster spot for the recently activated Josh Norris. The 27-year-old Lucchini was not all that impressive during his first NHL run, logging 11 games in which he generated one goal on 14 shots and 16 hits while averaging 11:40 of ice time.

Lucchini scored the game-winning goal in Ottwa's 3-1 victory over Buffalo on Sunday.
Lucchini's marker was netted while the Senators were on the power play. It was his first goal and point in five career NHL games. He entered the contest averaging just 10:24 of ice time with Ottawa, though Lucchini saw his role grow to 13:39 on Sunday, including 0:35 with the man advantage. The 27-year-old also had seven goals and 23 points in 25 contests with AHL Belleville in 2022-23.

Jake Lucchini: Not qualified by Habs
Lucchini will not be handed a qualifying offer by Montreal on Monday and will officially land on free agency, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
While he is technically free to sign an NHL deal, Lucchini has already agreed to terms on a one-year, minor-league contract with AHL Laval, per Patrick Williams of NHL.com. While this does tie him to the organization, Lucchini won't be eligible for any call-ups this year unless the Canadiens give him a two-way deal.
