  • Steven Kwan LF | CLE

Guardians' Steven Kwan: Hits in six straight

Kwan went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the White Sox.

Kwan showed up late in Friday's game, knocking a two-out RBI single to the tie the game in the seventh inning before scoring the game-winning run in the 10th. The RBI was his first in 18 games and just the 14th over 81 contests this season. Kwan continues to battle a season-long slump, but the outfielder has hit safely in six straight contests, going a modest 6-for-18 during that stretch.

  • Trent Grisham CF | NYY

Yankees' Trent Grisham: Goes yard in return to lineup

Grisham went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Friday's 5-2 win over the Twins.

Activated from the injured list earlier in the day, Grisham got the start in center field and hit leadoff, and he punctuated a seven-pitch at-bat in his first plate appearance by lofting a Mike Paredes changeup into the right-field short porch at Yankee Stadium. Grisham missed just under three weeks with a hamstring strain, but he's hit safely in eight straight games sandwiched around his IL stint, batting .424 (14-for-33) during that hot streak with five extra-base hits (two doubles, a triple and two homers), two steals, six RBI and nine runs.

  • Kahlil Watson RF | CLE

Guardians' Kahlil Watson: Hits game-winning single Friday

Watson went 1-for-2 with an RBI single during the Guardians' 4-3 extra-inning win over the White Sox on Friday.

Watson pinch hit for David Fry in the eighth inning, though the former proceeded to strike out swinging. However, Watson came up big when it mattered most, with his single in the 10th inning bringing home Steven Kwan for the game-winning run. Watson was called up by the Guardians in mid-June and went 0-for-10 with eight strikeouts across his first four major-league games. However, since June 22, he has gone 13-for-36 (.361) with two steals, one home run and nine RBI. Watson should continue to see reps in the outfield for as long as Angel Martinez (foot) is on the 10-day injured list.

  • Spencer Jones CF | NYY

Yankees' Spencer Jones: Sent back to Triple-A

The Yankees optioned Jones to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following Friday's 5-2 win over the Twins.

Jones slashed .265/.345/.469 with two home runs, five RBI and six runs scored across 55 plate appearances upon being recalled from Triple-A on June 5. Despite his strong numbers, he'll end up as the odd man out in the New York outfield after Trent Grisham (hamstring) was reinstated from the injured list prior to Friday's game. Jones will get the opportunity to play regularly at Triple-A, and he'll likely rank as the top option for a call-up if the Yankees have an opening at designated hitter or in the outfield.

  • Mike Trout CF | LAA

Angels' Mike Trout: Progressing in recovery

Angels manager Kurt Suzuki said Friday that Trout (hamstring) is improving in his recovery and is "really close" to returning from the 10-day injured list, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Trout continues to progress his recovery from a hamstring injury that landed him on the 10-day IL in mid-June. Per Greg Beacham of The Associated Press, Trout is expected to hit on the field this weekend and is on track to be back with the Angels early next week against the Rangers. Prior to being placed on the IL, Trout had an .866 OPS with seven steals, 17 home runs and 36 RBI across 335 plate appearances.

  • Victor Robles RF | SEA

Mariners' Victor Robles: In Friday's lineup

Robles (forearm) will start in center field and bat eighth against the Blue Jays on Friday.

Robles was removed from Thursday's game against the Angels after taking a pitch to his right forearm. X-rays came back negative, and the veteran outfielder has been cleared for Friday's game. Robles should see an uptick in playing time for at least the next week after the Mariners placed Julio Rodriguez (concussion) on the 7-day injured list.

  • Rays' Victor Mesa: In Friday's lineup for Simpson

Mesa will start in left field and bat sixth against the Astros on Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Chandler Simpson was initially slated to start but was scratched from Friday's lineup due to sore right index and middle fingers, per Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Mesa will now start in left field while Cedric Mullins and Jonny DeLuca man center and right, respectively.

  • Rays' Chandler Simpson: Scratched from Friday's lineup

Simpson was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Astros due to sore right index and middle fingers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Simpson jammed his fingers while sliding into second base during Thursday's game against the Royals. The move is being labeled as precautionary, which suggests Simpson could be available off the bench Friday and back in the lineup for Saturday's contest. Victor Mesa will take over in left field for Friday's series opener.

  • Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Officially placed on 7-day IL

The Mariners placed Rodriguez (concussion) on the 7-day injured list Friday.

The move to the 7-day IL was an expected one once Rodriguez entered the league's concussion protocol following Thursday's game against the Angels. He's eligible to be reinstated from the IL on July 10, but whether Rodriguez returns before the All-Star break will depend on how he progresses. In a corresponding move, the Mariners selected Miles Mastrobuoni's contract from Triple-A Tacoma and transferred Cooper Criswell (shoulder) to the 60-day IL.

  • Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Expected to go on 7-day IL

The Mariners are expected to place Rodriguez on the 7-day concussion injured list Friday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Rodriguez entered the league's concussion protocol following Thursday's game against the Angels, after he was hit in the back of the helmet by a throw from Nolan Schanuel in the first inning. Rodriguez will need to move through multiple checkpoints before being cleared but will be eligible to be activated off the IL before the All-Star break. A corresponding move has yet to be announced, though Kremer notes that Miles Mastrobuoni has a locker ahead of Friday's series opener against the Blue Jays.
