    Rodriguez will step out of the lineup Saturday after slashing .178/.229/.400 with two homers, five RBI and three runs scored over his first 13 games in the majors. Alan Roden will fill in as Minnesota's left fielder and bat sixth.

    Bateman (hip) will start in center field and bat leadoff Saturday against the Reds.

    Bateman has missed three consecutive starts, but after entering Friday's game off the bench, he'll return to the starting nine for Toronto's penultimate regular-season contest. The 24-year-old has found consistent success at the plate since debuting in early August, slashing .318/.392/.411 across 173 plate appearances.

  • Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Moves to 60-day IL

    The Tigers transferred Carpenter (foot) to the 60-day injured list Saturday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

    Carpenter has already been ruled out from returning this year due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot, so the Tigers will move him to the 60-day IL to create space on the 40-man roster for Justin Verlander (hamstring/hip), who will start Saturday's game.

    Athletics' Henry Bolte: Tallies two-RBI triple in win

    Bolte went 2-for-5 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored in Friday's 6-5 win over the Astros.

    Bolte smashed a two-RBI triple off the right-field wall to extend the Athletics' lead to 5-1 in the sixth inning. The 23-year-old is closing out his rookie campaign strongly, hitting .306/.416/.553 with five homers, 12 RBI, 18 runs and seven stolen bases in 22 September contests. Overall, Bolte is slashing .277/.359/.407 with 11 homers, 38 RBI, 57 runs and 21 stolen bases in 117 games.

    Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Sets tone in doubleheader sweep

    Anthony went 3-for-3 with a walk, two doubles, a triple and three runs scored in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Cubs.

    The 22-year-old was a menace at the top of Boston's order, and Anthony crossed the plate with the winning run after ripping a one-out triple into the right-field corner in the seventh inning. After going 1-for-3 with another walk as the Red Sox won the nightcap, Anthony sports a .267/.327/.485 slash line with 12 extra-base hits (six doubles, two triples, four homers), 10 RBI and 12 runs in 24 games since returning from a finger injury in late August.

  • Royals' Jac Caglianone: Trio of hits in loss

    Caglianone went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a strikeout during Friday's 12-9 loss to Cleveland.

    Caglianone recorded his fourth multi-hit effort in his last five games, picking up three base knocks. The 23-year-old got the scoring started for the Royals with an RBI double in the first and then added an RBI single in the fourth to take the lead. Over his last 30 games, Caglianone is batting a scorching-hot .358/.409/.491 with two homers and 21 RBI in 112 plate appearances.

    Angels' Wade Meckler: Comes up homer shy of cycle

    Meckler went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple and two runs scored in Friday's 7-5 win over the Mariners.

    Through six innings, Meckler had a triple, a double and a single, but he couldn't get the homer he needed for a cycle. He grounded out in the seventh and singled in the ninth. While he didn't claim a piece of history, Meckler still put up his fourth straight multi-hit effort. He's now batting .306 with a .775 OPS, three homers, 15 doubles, one triple, eight stolen bases, 27 RBI and 42 runs scored over 96 contests this season.

    Guardians' Angel Martinez: Records four RBI in win

    Martinez went 2-for-5 with a two-run double, a two run-single and a walk during Friday's 12-9 win over the Royals.

    Martinez posted his second four-RBI effort in his last six games. The 24-year-old started the scoring with a two-run single in the first and later added a two-run double in the ninth to extend the lead. Over his last 15 games, the switch hitter has slashed .339/.362/.696 with four homers and 12 RBI in 58 plate appearances.

    Guardians' David Fry: Smashes eighth homer

    Fry went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer during Friday's 12-9 win over the Royals.

    Fry extended his modest hitting streak to four games after blasting his eighth homer of the season Friday. The 30-year-old launched a two-run homer in the fifth inning off Noah Cameron to give Cleveland a narrow lead. This year, Fry is batting .194/.310/.361 with eight homers and 20 RBI in 210 plate appearances.

    White Sox's Sam Antonacci: Trio of hits in win

    Antonacci went 3-for-4 with a run scored during Friday's 6-1 win over the Rockies.

    Antonacci recorded his third multi-hit game in his last four games Friday against Colorado. The 23-year-old came around to score on an RBI single by Munetaka Murakami in the eighth inning. This season, Antonaaci is slashing .275/.368/.393 with eight homers, 48 RBI and 43 walks in 549 plate appearances.
