  • Luis Lara RF | MIL

Brewers' Luis Lara: Not in Monday's lineup

Lara is out of the lineup for Monday's game versus the Pirates.

Lara has been in a quasi-platoon with Andrew Vaughn lately, getting starts in right field on days that Jake Bauers is at first base. For Monday's series opener, Vaughn will cover first base, while Bauers mans right field.

  • Daulton Varsho CF | HOU

Astros' Daulton Varsho: Packing bags for Houston

The Astros acquired Varsho and cash considerations from the Blue Jays on Monday in exchange for Spencer Arrighetti (foot).

The Astros have been desperate for outfield help and have landed on Varsho, who is slashing a disappointing .243/.307/.375 with seven home runs, nine stolen bases and a 29:71 BB:K over 99 games this season. The impending free agent had an .833 OPS with 20 home runs in just 71 games last season, and he's among the better defensive center fielders in the game.

  • Cardinals' Josiah Ragsdale: Shipped to division rival

The Brewers traded Ragsdale and Alexander Frias to the Cardinals on Monday in exchange for Dustin May and JoJo Romero, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Ragsdale has been one of the breakout prospects of the year, particularly since mid-June. In 36 games since June 17, Ragsdale is slashing .333/.459/.783 with 17 home runs, nine doubles, nine steals, an 18.2 percent walk rate and a 24.7 percent strikeout rate. A seventh-round pick in 2025 out of Boston College, Ragsdale not only controls the strike zone, but 76.7 percent of his balls in play at Double-A were either line drives or flyballs. On the season, he has 19 home runs and 31 steals (on 34 attempts) in 86 games across High-A and Double-A.

  • Cardinals' Alexander Frias: Shipped to Cards in blockbuster

The Brewers traded Frias and Josiah Ragsdale to the Cardinals on Monday in exchange for Dustin May and JoJo Romero, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Frias is the latest Brewers international signee to break out in a big way, as he has already registered elite exit velocities as an 18-year-old with a projectable 6-foot-2, 177-pound frame. The lefty-hitting Frias won't turn 19 until March and slashed .342/.427/.553 with eight home runs, 19 steals and a 17.6 percent strikeout rate in 60 games across the Arizona Complex League and Single-A. It's worth noting that he was significantly more productive in complex ball (189 wRC+) than after his promotion to the Carolina League (93 wRC+), but his upside is undeniable. His 20 percent strikeout rate at Single-A hasn't been a problem, but his 57.3 percent groundball rate is a poor mark.

  • Max Schuemann LF | NYY

Yankees' Max Schuemann: Headed to Triple-A

The Yankees optioned Schuemann to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday.

New York needed to clear room on the 26-man active roster for trade-deadline acquisition Luis Garcia, and Schuemann ended up being the casuality. Schuemann has put up a .694 OPS in 40 games as a utility player for the Yankees this season.

  • Enddy Azocar CF | BAL

Orioles' Enddy Azocar: Part of prospect haul for Rutschman

The Orioles acquired Azocar, right-handers Anthony Eyanson and Kyson Witherspoon, catcher Carlos Narvaez and a player to be named from the Red Sox on Monday in exchange for catchers Adley Rutschman, Jake Rogers and cash, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Narvaez is the only big-league player headed back to Baltimore in the deal, but the trio of Azocar, Eyanson and Witherspoon -- three of the top prospects in Boston's system -- represents a massive return for Rutschman. A 19-year-old outfielder, Azocar packs a good deal of power into his 6-foot-2, 168-pound frame and has slugged 18 home runs over 399 plate appearances between Single-A Salem and High-A Greenville. He's also chipped in 10 steals in 12 attempts, though he doesn't project to be a major difference-maker in that category by the time he reaches the big leagues.

  • Brenton Doyle CF | CHW

White Sox's Brenton Doyle: Catches on with White Sox

The White Sox acquired Doyle from the Rockies on Monday in exchange for right-hander Mason Adams and infielder Carlos Vielma, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

According to Rosenthal, both teams are reviewing the medicals of all players involved in the deal before completing the trade, but barring any snags, Doyle will head to Chicago, where he should settle in as a fourth outfielder. Since supplying a .763 OPS with 23 home runs and 30 steals in 149 games for the Rockies in 2024, Doyle's offensive production has taken a major step back over the past two seasons while his strikeout rate has climbed. That said, the two-time Gold Glove Award winner still provides strong defense in center field, and his right-handedness will bring more balance to a Chicago outfield that features three left-handed bats in Sam Antonacci, Tristan Peters and Andrew Benintendi.

  • Taylor Ward RF | SEA

Mariners' Taylor Ward: Shipped to Seattle

The Mariners acquired Ward from the Orioles on Monday in exchange for Alex Hoppe, Brock Moore and Harrison Kreiling, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Ward has clubbed only seven home runs this season after going deep a career-high 36 times in 2025, but he's remained a productive hitter thanks in large part to an 83:103 BB:K. The 32-year-old is making $12.18 million this season and is an impending free agent.

  • Jo Adell RF | CLE

Guardians' Jo Adell: Headed to Cleveland in trade

The Guardians acquired Adell from the Angels on Monday in exchange for Jacob Cozart, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Adell has regressed this season following his 2025 breakout, slashing just .239/.287/.395 with 16 home runs across 111 games. However, he's just a year removed from a 37-homer campaign, giving the Guardians some much-needed power potential in their lineup. Adell will remain under team control for the 2027 season, as well.

  • Jung Hoo Lee RF | SF

Giants' Jung Hoo Lee: Multi-hit effort in loss

Lee went 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Padres. He was also hit by a pitch.

Lee singled in the second inning before stealing second base, and he added a double in the eighth. The 27-year-old outfielder has recorded at least one hit in six of his last seven appearances, batting .333 with six RBI, three runs scored, a home run and a stolen base in 31 plate appearances during that span. Overall, he's slashing .301/.338/.434 with 53 runs scored, 40 RBI, seven stolen bases and six long balls across 411 plate appearances this season.
