  • Noah Schultz SP | CHW

White Sox's Noah Schultz: Earns first win since July

Schultz (4-9) earned the win after pitching two perfect innings against the Royals on Tuesday. He struck out one.

Since being recalled to the big leagues Sept. 15, Schultz has recorded three consecutive scoreless outings for the White Sox. On the season, the southpaw owns a 5.58 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 64:31 K:BB over 71 innings. The 23-year-old could serve as a key piece out of the bullpen to eat up innings in the postseason.

  • Anthony Kay SP | CHW

White Sox's Anthony Kay: Roughed up in no-decision

Kay did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 14-11 win over the Royals, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over four innings. He struck out four.

Kay allowed four runs over four innings, including a solo homer to Nick Loftin. On the season, Kay is sporting a 9-9 record, 4.53 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 125:54 K:BB over 153 innings. The southpaw is expected to make his final start Sunday against the Rockies.

  • Astros' Mike Burrows: Returned from assignment

The Astros returned Burrows (elbow/shoulder) from his rehab assignment Monday.

Burrows landed on the injured list in mid-July with right elbow inflammation, and he suffered a setback with his shoulder at the beginning of September that has extended his stint on the IL. He was cleared to restart his rehab assignment Saturday and pitched two shutout innings, but the fact that the Astros have again halted his assignment without activating him doesn't bode well for his chances of returning in the regular season.

  • J.T. Ginn SP | ATH

Athletics' J.T. Ginn: Not returning in 2026

The Athletics transferred Ginn (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

In a pair of corresponding moves Tuesday, the Athletics reinstated Joshua Kuroda-Grauer (groin) from the 60-day injured list and placed Max Muncy (knee) on the 10-day injured list. Ginn faced the possibility of returning at the end of the 2026 season, but he was behind schedule in his recovery program, which inevitably led to his season concluding early. The starting pitcher landed on the 15-day injured list at the beginning of September due to a right elbow impingement.

  • Jack Flaherty SP | DET

Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Will make appearance this weekend

Flaherty (forearm) will be activated from the 15-day injured list and pitch during this weekend's series against the Pirates, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

He could follow either Justin Verlander (hamstring/hip) on Saturday or River Ryan on Sunday in a piggyback role, as neither Verlander nor Ryan are stretched out to handle a full workload. Flaherty's stamina isn't built up, either, but he was scheduled for a 2-to-3-inning simulated game this past Saturday. The right-handed hurler has been sidelined since late July due to right forearm flexor inflammation.

  • Carlos Rodon SP | NYY

Yankees' Carlos Rodon: Will not start Sunday's game

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Rodon will not start Sunday's regular-season finale against the Orioles, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Rodon will be on regular rest Sunday after tossing eight shutout innings with eight strikeouts to get the win in the first game of Tuesday's twin bill versus the Rays. However, with the regular-season finale unlikely to carry any postseason implications, the Yankees will hold Rodon back until the wild-card round. Boone didn't reveal who would start Sunday's contest, but it could be a bullpen game.

  • Max Scherzer SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Max Scherzer: Game postponed Tuesday

Scherzer won't start as scheduled Tuesday against the Orioles since the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

The right-hander had been lined up to potentially make two starts during the final week of the regular season, but Tuesday's postponement likely means Toronto will have to go in a different direction Sunday against Cincinnati. The game is being made up via a doubleheader Wednesday, with Scherzer likely to start one of those contests. The 42-year-old has a 4.26 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 40:20 K:BB across 50.2 innings since returning from back and thumb injuries in late July.

  • Chris Bassitt SP | BAL

Orioles' Chris Bassitt: Tuesday's game postponed

Bassitt won't start as scheduled Tuesday against the Blue Jays since the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

The contest will be made up via a doubleheader Wednesday as the two teams conclude the season series in Baltimore. Bassitt will presumably start one of those contests in what should be his final appearance of the season. Since returning from back surgery in mid-August, the veteran right-hander has a 3.76 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 35:15 K:BB across 40.2 innings (seven starts).

  • Jack Leiter SP | TEX

Rangers' Jack Leiter: Throws bullpen session

Leiter (ankle/biceps) threw a bullpen session at Globe Life Field on Sunday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Leiter had been shut down for a couple of weeks after experiencing biceps soreness in his return from June ankle surgery. The right-hander felt good with the session and may throw another bullpen this week before the Rangers make a decision on his next step.

  • Zebby Matthews SP | MIN

Twins' Zebby Matthews: Suffers 11th loss

Matthews (9-11) took the loss Monday, allowing five runs on eight hits and no walks over five innings against the Giants. He struck out nine.

Matthews got roughed up early, giving up four runs in the first two frames, though he still racked up his highest strikeout total since July 31. In four September starts, the right-hander has posted a 6.87 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB across 18.1 innings. Overall, Matthews owns a 4.90 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 116:39 K:BB in 130.1 innings (23 starts) and is tentatively lined up to make his final start of the regular season Sunday against the Rangers.
