  • Will Warren SP | NYY

Yankees' Will Warren: Earns win in bulk relief

Warren (11-6) earned the win against the Orioles in Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out seven over 3.2 scoreless innings.

Warren appeared out of the bullpen for the second time in September and dominated, throwing 39 of 54 pitches for strikes with 13 whiffs. It concluded a strong month for the 27-year-old, who went 2-0 with a 2.05 ERA and 25:8 K over five appearances (three starts). He'll finish the regular season with a 3.92 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 158:54 K across 156 innings and may work in a similar capacity to Friday for the Yankees in the postseason.

  • Jose Soriano SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Jose Soriano: Poor end to 2026 season

Soriano did not factor into the decision Friday against the Reds, allowing five runs on eight hits while striking out two across three innings. He did not issue a walk.

Soriano was handed an early 2-0 lead, but he proceeded to give up a solo homer to Eugenio Suarez in the second inning before yielding four more runs in the third. Soriano did not come back out for the fourth inning, with his night ending with only 48 pitches (36 strikes), but he escaped with the no-decision after his Blue Jays teammates tacked on four runs in the seventh. He's given up at least four earned runs in each of his last three outings, and Soriano will end the 2026 regular season with a 12-8 record across 32 starts, along with a 3.91 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 169:73 K:BB over 177.1 innings. He was acquired by the Blue Jays from the Angels in early August and is under arbitration for both 2027 and 2028.

  • Rays' Freddy Peralta: Collects 10th win of season

Peralta (10-11) earned the win against the Phillies on Friday, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out four across 5.1 scoreless innings.

Peralta lost six of 11 starts from June 20 to August 21, but the veteran right-hander ended the regular season strongly with five wins over his last six outings. Friday's outing was his fifth start in which he gave up zero earned runs while tossing five or more innings, generating 12 whiffs and seven ground outs in the process. He'll finish the regular season with a 4.42 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 156:63 K:BB over 169 innings. The Rays will enter the playoffs as the top seed, so Peralta will have additional rest before toeing the rubber for the ALDS.

  • Trevor Rogers SP | BAL

Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Early hook in no-decision

Rogers did not factor into the decision in Friday's 10-2 win over the Yankees, allowing one run on five hits and no walks with four strikeouts over four innings.

Rogers allowed a run in the fourth inning but was solid overall, filling the zone with 41 of 55 pitches while generating 11 whiffs in his final start of the campaign. The 28-year-old finished the year strong, posting a 2.53 ERA with a stellar 36:2 K:BB over five September outings. He'll finish the season 10-11 with a 4.03 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 157:39 K:BB across a career-high 169.2 innings and will test free agency this offseason.

  • Brendan Beck SP | NYY

Yankees' Brendan Beck: Sent back down

The Yankees optioned Beck after the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Orioles, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Beck took the loss in the matinee, allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks while striking out eight over five innings. While Beck put up impressive numbers at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, posting a 2.93 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 151:40 K:BB in 135.1 innings, that success has yet to translate to the highest level (9.95 ERA in four appearances).

  • Will Warren SP | NYY

Yankees' Will Warren: Not starting in Game 2 of twin bill

Warren will not start in the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Orioles, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Instead, the Yankees will deploy Ryan Yarbrough as the opener for the second game of Friday's twin bill, with Warren expected to follow the former. In 12 games since the All-Star break, Warren has a 4.00 ERA and 1.41 WHIP across 54 innings.

  • Max Scherzer SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Max Scherzer: Could start Sunday

Scherzer could be the starter for the Blue Jays' regular-season finale against the Reds on Sunday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

With the Blue Jays eliminated from playoff contention, Sunday's game could be Scherzer's final start in his major-league career, in what would be in front of the home crowd at Rogers Centre. It hasn't exactly been the final season that the veteran right-hander has hoped for, with Scherzer sporting a 3-9 record (across 17 starts) with a 6.14 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across 77.2 innings. Still, Sunday's matinee would be the opportunity for Scherzer to end his career on a high note, assuming he hangs up the cleats during the offseason.

  • Dylan Cease SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Dylan Cease: Anticipates normal offseason

Cease (shoulder) said Friday that he anticipates having a relatively normal offseason, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Surgery was ruled out, but Cease will take some downtime over the next several weeks to allow the inflammation in his shoulder to subside. He still expects to be ready for the start of spring training in 2027. A Cy Young candidate throughout much of the campaign, Cease finishes the 2026 season with a 2.40 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 239 strikeouts across 29 starts and 169 innings.

  • Yankees' Carlos Lagrange: Possibility for postseason

Lagrange threw a live batting practice session Wednesday and is a possibility to pitch for the Yankees at some point during the postseason, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

Lagrange returned for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last week with a scoreless frame after missing almost three months with a right shoulder sprain. The righty averaged 100.3 mph and topped out at 102.1 mph during last week's outing at SWB. Lagrange will continue to throw to stay available as a potential bullpen option for the Yankees in the postseason.

  • Yankees' Elmer Rodriguez: Pitching on Sunday

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Rodriguez will pitch during Sunday's game against the Orioles, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

It's unclear whether it will be a traditional start or bulk relief appearance, but in either case Rodriguez appears set to absorb the bulk of the innings in the regular-season finale. The rookie right-hander has made six starts at the big-league level this season, posting a 5.40 ERA and 21:16 K:BB over 26.2 innings.
