Andre Williams: Released by Chargers

Williams was cut by the Chargers on Saturday, Jack Wang of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Williams took 18 carries for 87 yards in a Week 17 spot start last year, but he fell down the depth chart this offseason when Branden Oliver came back strong from a torn Achilles' tendon. Oliver will serve as Melvin Gordon's top backup, with undrafted rookie Austin Ekeler rounding out the depth chart.
