Giants' Xavier McKinney: Placed on IR

The Giants placed McKinney on injured reserve Sunday, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.

McKinney was forced to undergo surgery to repair a fractured foot last week, so this news isn't surprising. Following surgery, he'll look to retake the field after the Giants' bye week in late November, which occurs in Week 12. In the meantime, look for recent acquisition Logan Ryan to handle starting free safety duties to begin the season.
