John Gibson G | DET
Red Wings' John Gibson: Expected in goal Tuesday
Gibson is slated to get the starting nod at home against the Senators on Tuesday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
Gibson has lost each of his first two outings despite posting an impressive 2.07 GAA and .915 save percentage. The netminder could get some offensive reinforcements soon, as Dylan Larkin (upper body) has been taken off non-roster injured reserve ahead of Tuesday's tilt. With some more scoring, Gibson should be capable of picking up plenty of wins, as he figures to see the bulk of the workload for the Wings.

Jeremy Swayman G | BOS
Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Rough night against Sens
Swayman made 20 saves in Monday's 4-1 loss to Ottawa.
The Bruins' defense was lackluster, to say the least, in front of Swayman. The Senators' first two goals were scored on 2-on-1 counter-attacks on the same Boston power play in the first period, while Drake Batherson's tally early in the second came on a clean breakaway from the blue line after a neutral zone turnover. The loss was Swayman's first of the season after two wins, but he's still allowed just seven goals on 81 total shots, thanks largely to a shutout of the Rangers in the Bruins' opener.

Samuel Ersson G | OTT
Senators' Samuel Ersson: Needed in relief Monday
Ersson turned aside eight of the nine shots he faced after replacing Linus Ullmark (undisclosed) to begin the third period of Monday's 4-1 win over the Bruins.
Ullmark was shaken up late in the second period after a collision with JJ Peterka, but per Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia, Senators coach Travis Green indicated his removal for the final frame was just precautionary. The decision still resulted in Ersson seeing his first action for his new team in a relatively low-stress situation, as Ottawa held a 4-0 lead after two periods. Ersson likely would have been in line anyway to get his first start of the season Tuesday in Detroit, but the Sens may need to summon help from AHL Belleville to back him up if Ullmark needs additional recovery time.

Andrei Vasilevskiy G | TB
Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Sharp in Monday's win
Vasilevskiy made 13 saves in Monday's 4-1 win over the Flyers.
The Lightning out-shot the visitors 36-14 on the night, and the one puck that did get past Vasilevskiy was something of a fluke -- Tyson Foerster floated a shot through traffic that would have gone wide of the net had it not deflected off Charle-Edouard D'Astous as he battled with Porter Martone at the edge of the crease. Vasilevskiy was beaten four times in an Opening Night loss to the Rangers, but since then he's been locked in, winning two straight starts while allowing two goals on 35 shots.

Dan Vladar G | PHI
Flyers' Dan Vladar: Jolted by Bolts
Vladar stopped 32 of 35 shots in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Lightning, with Tampa Bay's final goal getting scored into an empty net.
The 29-year-old netminder allowed a goal in each period, while the Flyers' offense had little luck solving Andrei Vasilevskiy in the other crease. Vladar has had a bumpy start to the season as he attempts to follow up his breakout 2025-26 campaign, coughing up 10 goals on 73 shots in his first two starts.

Yaroslav Askarov G | SJ
Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Allows five goals in first loss
Askarov stopped 21 of 26 shots in Monday's 5-0 loss to the Stars.
Askarov surrendered one goal in the opening period, three more in the second and Mikko Rantanen's tally late in the third as San Jose suffered its first loss of the campaign. The 24-year-old had won each of his first two starts but received no offensive support Monday, especially after Macklin Celebrini was scratched shortly before puck drop due to a lower-body injury. Askarov fell to 2-1-0 this season, but his goaltending numbers have been poor, as he's allowed 12 goals on 87 shots faced in just three games in 2026-27.

Jake Oettinger G | DAL
Stars' Jake Oettinger: Earns shutout Monday
Oettinger stopped all 13 shots he faced in Monday's 5-0 win over the Sharks.
Oettinger wasn't heavily tested, but he turned aside everything San Jose sent his way to record his first shutout of the season -- and the 17th of his NHL career. Dallas controlled the contest after Miro Heiskanen opened the scoring late in the first period and eventually provided Oettinger with five goals of support. The victory was also the Stars' first of the season following a disappointing start. As for Oettinger, he's given up just two goals on 35 shots faced in the early stages of the 2026-27 campaign. This was his second start of the season, and while Casey DeSmith is a competent goalkeeper, Oettinger should be the No. 1 option as long as he's healthy.

Sergei Murashov G | PIT
Penguins' Sergei Murashov: Stops 30 shots in loss
Murashov stopped 30 of 33 shots in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Jets.
Murashov got the start after Arturs Silovs allowed five goals on 25 shots in Saturday's overtime win over Montreal, and while he responded with a .909 save percentage, it wasn't enough to lift the Penguins to victory here. Expect Murashov to return to his regular backup role when Pittsburgh takes on Washington on Wednesday.
-
Clay Stevenson G | WPG
Jets' Clay Stevenson: Makes 29 saves in win Monday
Stevenson stopped 29 of 31 shots in Monday's 3-2 win over the Penguins.
Stevenson was beaten only by Ben Kindel in the second period and Declan Carlile in the third, keeping Winnipeg within striking distance until the offense erupted for three goals in a span of 4:19 during the final frame. The 27-year-old also protected the one-goal advantage late, denying Evgeni Malkin from the high slot in the closing seconds. Stevenson earned the victory in his Jets debut while making his sixth career NHL start, but he should remain Winnipeg's No. 2 option between the posts behind Stuart Skinner while Connor Hellebuyck (suspension) remains away from the team.

Linus Ullmark G | OTT
Senators' Linus Ullmark: Leaves game after collision in crease
Ullmark (undisclosed) departed Monday's 4-1 win over the Bruins after tweaking something, though head coach Travis Green said the netminder was pulled from the game for precautionary reasons, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.
Ullmark stopped all 10 shots he faced before being replaced by Samuel Ersson at the start of the third period. The 33-year-old Ullmark was nicked up after a collision in the blue paint with Boston's JJ Peterka. Green said postgame that Ullmark will continue to be evaluated. Ottawa will continue its road trip in the second half of a back-to-back Tuesday in Detroit. Ullmark should be considered questionable, at best, for that matchup at this time, but it would not be surprising to see Ersson draw the start Tuesday.
