The Rangers on Saturday announced that left-hander Derek Holland has been activated from the 60-day disabled list. Holland will make his first start of the 2014 season on Tuesday against the Royals. Holland has been sidelined after undergoing knee surgery in January (pursuant to a "dog-related" injury).
Holland, 27, is coming off a breakout 2013 season in which he pitched to a 3.42 ERA (122 ERA+) and 2.95 K/BB ratio in 213 innings of work. He's signed to a five-year, $28.5-million contract that includes team options for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
