Pirates' Jared Jones: Stumbles in San Francisco
Jones (2-3) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk over five innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Giants.
All three runs against Jones scored during a disastrous third inning. He gave up five hits in the frame, including solo homers by Thairo Estrada and Mike Yastrzemski to start things off. Jones' historic strikeout pace slowed down as he forced only seven swinging strikes in the subpar outing. As impressive as the right-handed rookie has been, he's been tagged with seven homers through his first six starts. He'll carry a 3.18 ERA into his next start, which is lined up to be at home against the Rockies.

Pirates' Jared Jones: Shines bright in victory
Jones (2-2) earned the win Monday against the Brewers, allowing one run, four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out seven.
Jones continued the impressive start to his career Monday night, striking out seven Brewers by generating an astounding 25 whiffs. The 22-year-old rookie has been electric to start the season, tossing a 2.79 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 38:4 K:BB over 29 innings. The only question about Jones at this point appears to be how many innings the Pirates will let him throw this year. His next start is scheduled on the road against the Giants.

Pirates' Jared Jones: Throws five scoreless
Jones threw five scoreless innings during Tuesday's loss against the Mets while allowing one hit and striking out seven batters. He did not factor into the decision.
Jones was dominant in his fourth career start, needing just 56 pitches to get through five innings while allowing just one batter to reach base. The 22-year-old likely could have continued pitching further into the game, but the Pirates' plan was always to limit him to five innings Tuesday. He departed with a 1-0 lead, but Pittsburgh's bullpen was unable to keep the Mets' offense quiet, leading to a 3-1 defeat and a no-decision for Jones. The right-hander now boasts a 3.13 ERA and 0.78 WHIP alongside a 32:2 K:BB ratio across 23 innings.

Pirates' Jared Jones: Pitches well in defeat again
Jones (1-2) took the loss against Philadelphia on Thursday, allowing three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings.
The rookie right-hander was very good in the outing, but home runs by Alec Bohm in the fourth inning and Brandon Marsh in the seventh accounted for three runs against him, which was enough to tag Jones with his second straight loss. He nonetheless continues to impress, as he's notched a quality start in two straight outings and has punched out at least seven batters in all three of his appearances so far this season. Overall, Jones has a a 4.00 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and outstanding 25:2 K:BB through 18 innings as a big-leaguer, so fantasy managers who roster him have ample reason to be excited for what lies ahead.
