Parra signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Tuesday, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.
Parra is expected to report to minor-league camp. He should spend the year in the minors as organizational pitching depth, as he hasn't pitched in the majors since 2015 and is coming off a brutal 2017 season during which he struggled to a 14.09 ERA across 7.2 innings with the Cubs' Triple-A affiliate.

Cubs' Manny Parra: Reassigned to minor-league camp
Parra, who signed a minor league contract with the Cubs in January, was reassigned to minor-league camp Tuesday, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Parra, who owns a 4.90 ERA and 1.58 WHIP across 628 career innings in eight MLB seasons, was competing to make the roster as a lefty reliever. He'll now provide organizational depth.

Cubs' Manny Parra: Joins Cubs on minor league deal
Parra has signed a minor league contract with the Cubs that includes an invitation to spring training, Bruce Miles of the Daily Herald reports.
An eight-year major league veteran, Parra owns a 4.90 ERA and 1.58 WHIP across 628 career innings. The Cubs are a little light on lefty relievers and Parra's last season with Cincinnati in 2015 was really one of his best, but he's now 34 and any opportunity with Chicago would likely come in the middle innings.

The Cubs released three players on Tuesday, including Parra, but all three are now back with the organization after less than 24 hours. The 33-year-old posted a 3.90 ERA in 40 appearances with the Reds last season and could see some time in the major league bullpen as a left-handed option.

After three years in Cincinnati, Parra hit free agency again this offseason, and his numbers over the last couple seasons weren't good enough (3.90 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) to earn him another major league deal. With many teams in search of an effective southpaw, the Cubs have decided to throw a dart with him. The veteran will look to nab a bullpen spot with a strong spring training, but may face an uphill battle.
