  • Hornets' Montrezl Harrell: Facing felony charges

Harrell is facing felony drug-related charges in connection to a traffic stop in Kentucky last month, Rod Boone of the Charlotte Observer reports.

Per Boone's reporting, the incident occurred in Richmond, KY on May 12, when Harrell was pulled over by a police officer who discovered marijuana in his vehicle. Police subsequently discovered "three pounds of marijuana in vacuum sealed bags" in Harrell's vehicle. Per Kentucky law, possessing that amount is a Class D Felony punishable by one-to-five years in prison or a fine of up to $10,000. The Hornets are yet to comment on the situation, and at this juncture it's unclear if Harrell could face any discipline from the team or from the NBA. The 28-year-old is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason after splitting the 2021-22 campaign between Charlotte and Washington.

  • Hornets' Montrezl Harrell: Perfect from field, tossed late

Harrell closed with 14 points (6-6 FG, 2-3 FT), two rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal across 20 minutes before getting ejected from Thursday's 128-101 win over the Magic.

Harrell, Robin Lopez and Admiral Schofield were tossed in the fourth quarter for a scene instigated by R.J. Hampton. A retaliator, Harrell's perfect night from the field was cut short, although he still managed to stuff the stat sheet and log a whopping plus-31 in the box score. Harrell will be back for Friday's contest against Chicago. He averaged 13.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two contests against the Bulls last season.

  • Hornets' Montrezl Harrell: Posts 20 points in 20 minutes

Harrell contributed 20 points (7-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 6-7 FT) and six rebounds over 20 minutes during Wednesday's 116-106 win over the Hawks.

Coming off an underwhelming performance in Monday's win over Oklahoma City, Harrell responded with 20 points off the bench Wednesday to finish second on the team in scoring behind only LaMelo Ball (22 points). It was Harrell's first 20-point game since Feb. 25, and while he probably won't record many more of those this season, it was definitely encouraging from a fantasy perspective coming off Monday's dud. He'll look to bring the same energy to Saturday's matchup with Dallas.

  • Hornets' Montrezl Harrell: Struggles to produce Monday

Harrell recorded five points (1-2 FG, 3-3 FT), two assists and one block over 18 minutes during Monday's 134-116 win over the Thunder.

Harrell had arguably his worst game since joining the Hornets, barely scraping the surface in terms of fantasy value. Outside of a couple of strong performances when he was first traded, things have been trending in the wrong direction. Over the past two weeks, he is averaging just 10.5 points per game, to go with 5.5 rebounds and basically nothing else. His one-dimensional game is not conducive to fantasy value, so barring a major shift in direction by the Hornets, managers can certainly do better in 12-team leagues.

  • Hornets' Montrezl Harrell: Efficient effort off bench

Harrell scored 15 points (7-10 FG, 1-4 FT) while adding six rebounds and two assists in 17 minutes off the bench during Saturday's 123-117 win over the Spurs.

While Mason Plumlee got the start at center and led the Hornets with 13 boards, Harrell was playing his usual energy role from the second unit and scored in double digits for the second straight game without seeing more than 17 minutes of court time. The 28-year-old is capable of bigger numbers when he gets the minutes, but Charlotte's crowded frontcourt puts a firm cap on Harrell's workload when the team's key big men are all healthy.

  • Hornets' Montrezl Harrell: Double-doubles off bench

Harrell racked up 20 points (9-12 FG, 2-3 FT), 10 rebounds and three assists over 23 minutes during Friday's 125-93 victory over the Raptors.

Harrell has scored in double figures in all five games since joining Charlotte, including back-to-back 20-plus point outings. He also notched his first double-double with his new squad Friday and just his sixth of the campaign. As a member of the Hornets, Harrell has averaged 18.2 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists across 30.2 minutes per game. He figures to be an integral part of coach James Borrego's rotation for the final month and a half of the regular season.
