Jazz's Malik Beasley: Dealt to Jazz
Beasley -- along with Patrick Beverley, Walker Kessler, Jarred Vanderbilt, Leandro Bolmaro and four first-round picks -- was dealt from the Timberwolves to the Jazz on Friday in exchange for Rudy Gobert, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Beasley broke out in 2020-21 when he averaged 19.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest for the Timberwolves. While he couldn't quite replicate that success last season, he should provide the Jazz with another solid scoring option, presumably off the bench. Beasley's current contract runs through the 2022-23 season and includes a $16.5 million club option for 2023-24.... See More ... See Less
Timberwolves' Malik Beasley: Comes up big in Game 1 win
Beasley closed Saturday's 130-117 win over the Grizzlies with 23 points (8-14 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds and two assists in 30 minutes off the bench.
It was the 25-year-old's best scoring effort since he dropped 33 on the Thunder back on March 9, and his highest point total off the bench since he struck for 26 against the Suns on Jan. 28. Beasley has been providing consistent offense lately, averaging 13.6 points, 3.3 threes, 3.0 boards, 1.4 assists and 0.9 steals in 26.3 minutes over the last seven games, and he'll need to remain a key part of the second unit if the Timberwolves are going to advance past the first round.... Timberwolves' Malik Beasley: Upgraded to questionable
Beasley (ankle) participated in the team's morning shootaround and has been upgraded to questionable for Friday's game against the Nuggets, Dane Moore of BringMeTheNews.com reports.
The 2016 first-round pick was previously listed as out, and Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch said earlier this week that Beasley isn't "anywhere close" to returning to game action, but he appears to have made a miraculous turnaround and has a chance to suit up Friday. Beasley has missed back-to-back games after suffering the injury during a March 25 win over the Mavericks. The sixth-year wing has appeared in 74 games this season and is averaging 12.1 points across 25.0 minutes per game, so his potential presence would be a big boost for a Timberwolves squad that hasn't won in his absence.... Timberwolves' Malik Beasley: Not close to returning
Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch said Tuesday that Beasley (ankle) isn't "anywhere close" to returning to game action, Chris Hine of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Based on Finch's comments, Beasley will likely be sidelined for at least a week and may be out even longer. The Timberwolves only have six games remaining in the regular season, so it's possible Minnesota plays it safe to make sure he's healthy for a potential playoff run. Regardless, the sixth-year wing has appeared in all but two games this season and has averaged 12.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 25.0 minutes per game, so his absence will be a blow to the Timberwolves' depth. Moving forward, Jaylen Nowell, Taurean Prince and Jordan McLaughlin figure to be Minnesota's top options off the bench.... See More ... See Less
