Trail Blazers' CJ Elleby: Available for finale
Elleby (illness) is available for Sunday's game against the Jazz, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
Elleby was a late addition to the injury report due to an illness, but he'll suit up for a 30th straight contest. Over his last 12 games (all starts), he's averaged 7.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 28.2 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' CJ Elleby: Questionable for finale
Elleby is questionable for Sunday's game against the Jazz due to an illness, Jamie Hudson of KOIN 6 News Portland reports.
Elleby may miss the finale, which would be his first absence since Jan. 31. He's started the past 12 games, with averages of 7.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 28.2 minutes.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' CJ Elleby: Hits for 17 in New Orleans
Elleby registered 17 points (7-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and two rebounds over 31 minutes during Thursday's 127-94 loss to the Pelicans.
The game wasn't close, but Elleby managed to set a new career scoring high anyway, topping the 16 points he scored against Detroit on March 21. The second-year wing had scored in single digits in six straight games coming into Thursday, however, and he remains an inconsistent fantasy option at best.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' CJ Elleby: Career-best performance
Elleby registered 16 points (5-7 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-7 FT), eight rebounds, two assists, one block and three steals over 25 minutes during Monday's 119-115 win over the Pistons.
Elleby supplied a career-high 16 points while supplementing his scoring production with strong auxiliary stats. Highlighted by eight rebounds (three offensive) and three steals, the second-year guard offsets his 40.7 field-goal percentage with well-rounded production on a nightly basis. Elleby has averaged 8.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists across his last 10 games.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' CJ Elleby: Will start Sunday
Elleby will start Sunday's contest against the Pacers in place of Justise Winslow (Achilles), Jay Allen of NBC Sports Northwest Rip City Radio 620 reports.
Elleby started 15 consecutive games from the beginning of February to mid-March with Winslow sidelined, but he operated off the bench in each of the last two games. During his stretch as a starter, the second-year wing averaged 7.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 29.8 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' CJ Elleby: Moving back to bench
Elleby will move to the bench Wednesday against the Knicks, Trail Blazers radio voice Travis Demers reports.
With Justise Winslow making his return from an Achilles injury, Elleby will shift to the bench while the Blazers start Brandon Williams, Josh Hart, Winslow, Trendon Watford and Drew Eubanks. During his string of 15 straight starts from Feb. 4 through March 14, Elleby posted 7.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting just 35.5 percent from the field.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' CJ Elleby: Joins rebounding army
Elleby chipped in six points (1-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 13 rebounds and five assists across 29 minutes during Monday's 122-113 loss to Atlanta. He also had three turnovers.
Josh Hart is an excellent rebounder on the wing, and Portland trotted out a more traditional, old-school frontcourt Monday. Not to be outdone, Elleby led the team in rebounds, part of a stout 56 rebounds as a team. Elleby is a non-factor offensively, but he's a fascinating contributor elsewhere, salvaging some appeal... Trail Blazers' CJ Elleby: Scores 10 points Wednesday
Elleby contributed 10 points (3-6 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes during Wednesday's 123-85 loss to the Jazz.
Elleby's output isn't going to turn any heads, but he did finish as one of only three Portland players to post double-digit scoring. This was the fourth time in 13 games since moving into a starting role that he has recorded 10 or more points. Elleby is averaging 7.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.7 steals across 29.3 minutes over that stretch, making him a player to avoid in all but the deepest of fantasy leagues.... See More ... Trail Blazers' CJ Elleby: Offers defensive numbers in loss
Elleby managed eight points (4-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt), five rebounds, three steals and two blocks across 26 minutes Sunday in the Trail Blazers' 124-92 loss to the Nuggets.
Elleby's production in the defensive categories was noteworthy, but with averages of 0.8 steals and 0.7 blocks since he joined Portland's starting five Feb. 4, he's more of a serviceable contributor in those areas rather than a true standout. His numbers in other categories have been more lacking -- he hasn't topped 11 points, nine rebounds, four assists or one three-pointer in any of his nine starts. Elleby has also fallen below 30 minutes in the past two contests, and his playing-time outlook isn't likely to improve if the Achilles injury that sidelined Justise Winslow on Sunday doesn't prove to be a long-term concern.... Trail Blazers' CJ Elleby: Scoring woes continue
Elleby chipped in five points (1-5 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal over 22 minutes during Thursday's 132-95 loss to the Warriors.
Elleby is shooting just 32.7 percent, including 22.2 percent from deep, from the field over eight February contests. Never an efficient scorer, Elleby averaged 18.4 points per game on 39.6 percent shooting in his final season at Washington St. Elleby brings above-average rebounding as a guard but is far from fantasy consideration at this time.... Trail Blazers' CJ Elleby: Starting again Saturday
Elleby is starting Saturday's game against the Knicks, Jay Allen of NBC Sports Northwest Rip City Radio 620 reports.
Although Josh Hart will make his team debut as a starter Saturday, Elleby will remain in the starting lineup for a fifth consecutive game. While Ben McLemore will move to a bench role against the Knicks, it's not yet clear whether that trend will continue.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' CJ Elleby: Makes third straight start
Elleby closed with 11 points (4-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds, four assists and two steals across 34 minutes during Tuesday's 113-95 loss to the Magic.
Starting for the third straight game, Elleby set a new season high in scoring and grabbed a career-best nine rebounds to fill out perhaps his best stat line since entering the NBA as a second-round pick in 2020. Elleby will be among a handful of players to monitor on a gutted Blazers' roster, though his ultimate role may not become clear until the dust settles following Thursday's trade deadline.... Trail Blazers' CJ Elleby: Starts, plays 27 minutes in loss
Elleby finished with seven points (3-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt), eight rebounds, two assists and one block across 27 minutes Friday in the Trail Blazers' 96-93 loss to the Thunder.
With four players out with injuries and none of the three players the Trail Blazers acquired earlier Friday from the Clippers (Eric Bledsoe, Justise Winslow and Keon Johnson) available, Elleby entered the starting five for the first time all season. After getting nine minutes of run off the bench Wednesday against the Lakers in his return from a three-game absence due to a hamstring injury, Elleby's playing time was tripled Friday, due in large part to the lack of available options. Portland could have Larry Nance (knee) and the three new Clippers imports available for the second half of the back-to-back set Saturday versus Milwaukee, in which case Elleby's playing time would likely take a notable hit.... Trail Blazers' CJ Elleby: Plays 27 minutes in start
Elleby finished with seven points (3-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt), eight rebounds, two assists and one block over 27 minutes during Friday's 96-93 loss to Oklahoma City.
Elleby matched his season high in minutes and made his first start of the season after the Blazers shipped out Norman Powell and Robert Covington earlier in the day. The Washington State product has moved into a more consistent role of late, and he could be a name to monitor in deeper leagues should the Blazers opt for more of a youth-oriented rotation down the stretch.... Trail Blazers' CJ Elleby: Gets green light
Elleby (hamstring) is available for Friday's matchup with the Thunder, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
No surprise here, as Elleby was given a probable designation prior to the game. It will be his second game back following a three-game absence.... See More ... See Less
