Preseason football may be some four months off, but the NFL wants to give you time to get adequately pumped for what amounts to glorified practices. That's right: On Thursday, the league announced the 2015 preseason schedule in all its meaningless glory.

Meaningless may be an overstatement; the preseason is when jobs are won and rosters are made. It also provides hapless fans of hopeless franchises a chance to feel like this is the year.

We'll get a better sense after the draft of which games will be worth your attention, but in the meantime we'll pencil in these Week 1 matchups as noteworthy, too (at least for the first couple of series, anyway).

* Vikings vs. Steelers (Hall of Fame Game): We'll know whether Adrian Peterson will be a member of the 2015 Vikings, and it'll be one of the few chances to see Le'Veon Bell early in the season.

* Colts vs. Eagles: We'll get our first glimpse at new Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford ... assuming he hasn't been traded to the Browns.

* Redskins vs. Browns: Robert Griffin III vs. Johnny Manziel -- unless Kirk Cousins and/or Colt McCoy beat RG3 out for the job during training camp. In Cleveland, Josh McCown could beat out Manziel, and Bradford (see above) could beat out McCown. Of course, the Browns might trade up for Marcus Mariota, making this all moot -- unless the Redskins beat them to the punch.

Back on Earth, here's the entire 2015 NFL preseason schedule:
