Buccaneers' Chase Edmonds: On IR with knee injury
Edmonds was placed on season-ending injured reserve Monday due to a knee injury, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
The 28-year-old RB won't be designated for a return, meaning the only way he can play this season is if he reaches an injury settlement to be released by Tampa Bay. Edmonds hasn't practiced since the first week of training camp and recently had arthroscopic surgery on his injured knee.

Buccaneers' Chase Edmonds: Lands on IR
The Buccaneers placed Edmonds (undisclosed) on injured reserve Monday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Edmonds has been nursing an undisclosed injury throughout training camp, and it will now cost him the 2024 season. As a result, Bucky Irving, Sean Tucker and DJ Williams will be the remaining candidates for a depth role at running back behind Rachaad White. Edmonds was not given the IR designated to return option, so he will now set his sights on recovering for 2025.

Coach Todd Bowles indicated this weekend that Edmonds (undisclosed) is likely to begin the coming season on IR, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Edmonds has been sidelined with an unspecified injury that has lingered, and it looks like he'll begin the 2024 campaign on IR, a scenario that would see him miss at least four games out of the gate. Edmonds has been out with an undisclosed injury since the start of training camp, with his absence now nearing the one-month mark. Meanwhile, Bucky Irving worked ahead of Tampa Bay's other reserve running backs in each of the first two preseason games, putting him on track to enter Week 1 as the No. 2 RB behind returning starter Rachaad White. Edmonds returns to a Buccaneers team that trusted him with the No. 2 role behind lead back Rachaad White last season. Across 13 regular-season appearances in 2023, Edmonds rushed 49 times for 176 yards and secured 14 of 17 catches for 81 yards, all without a single touchdown. He could be primed for a similar role in 2024, though Sean Tucker will be a candidate to carve out a larger workload Year 2, and Tampa Bay could still add to the backfield in free agency or April's draft.

Buccaneers' Chase Edmonds: Efficient showing to close out '24
Edmonds rushed four times for 19 yards and brought in both targets for 18 yards in the Buccaneers' 31-23 divisional-round loss to the Lions on Sunday.
Edmonds overcame a questionable tag due to a toe injury to suit up for the postseason contest, and he filled his typically modest No. 2 role behind lead back Rachaad White. The veteran was reasonably effective with his opportunities during a 13-game regular season, recording 176 yards at 3.6 yards per carry and adding a 14-81-0 receiving line. Edmonds then had 11 carries for 31 yards and three receptions for another 26 yards during Tampa Bay's two postseason games. He's slated for unrestricted free agency this offseason after playing 2023 on a one-year deal.

After being deemed a non-participant in Wednesday's and Thursday's walk-throughs, Edmonds logged a limited session Friday and approached the contest listed as questionable. With his active status versus Detroit confirmed, the running back is available to maintain his complementary role behind starter Rachaad White. As long as White remains healthy, however, Edmonds -- who logged seven carries for 12 yards and one catch for eight yards in the Buccaneers' wild-card win over the Eagles this past Monday -- will profile as a speculative lineup option.

Edmonds (toe) returned to practice Friday and will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Detroit, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Edmonds didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday despite handling his normal role in Monday's 32-9 win over the Eagles. He typically plays about one-fourth of Tampa Bay's snaps on offense, and he got 5-to-10 touches in each of the past four games (including eight for 20 yards from scrimmage in the wild-card win over Philadelphia). The Bucs' other backfield options behind starter Rachaad White are rookie Sean Tucker and practice-squad member Patrick Laird.
