  • Chargers' Donald Parham: Agrees to contract tender

Parham has officially signed his exclusive rights free agent tender with the Chargers, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

The tight end -- who saw his receptions double from 10 in 2020 to 20 in 2021 -- will jostle for snaps behind former Seahawk Gerald Everett, who Los Angeles signed in April. Also currently in the mix at the position with Parham are Tre' McKitty and Hunter Kampmoyer.

  • Chargers' Donald Parham: More competition on tap

Parham faces additional competition at tight end in 2022 after the Chargers opted to sign Gerald Everett in March, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.

Not only does Everett project to be the team's No. 1 tight end this season, head coach Brandon Staley suggested the team is still interested in adding another one to the mix. While nominal third-stringer Stephen Anderson signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals earlier this offseason, it's possible Parham might find himself in a full-fledged battle for the No. 2 role, much less a starting spot, after he spent the majority of the offseason to date as the team's lone quality option at the position.

  • Chargers' Donald Parham: Gets contract tender for 2022

The Chargers have extended a contract tender to Parham, per Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus.

With the reported move, Parham -- an exclusive rights free agent -- is on track to reclaim his role in the Chargers offense in 2022. With that in mind, Kyed adds that Parham has been fully cleared from the concussion that landed him on IR late last season. The 6-foot-8, 237-pounder caught 20 of his 27 targets for 190 yards and three TDs in 14 contests last season. With last year's top pass-catching TE Jared Cook headed for free agency, Parham -- who turns 25 in August -- could potentially see an uptick in targets this coming season, but his fantasy upside won't come into focus until after the bulk of the team's offseason moves have been made.

  • Chargers' Donald Parham: Placed on IR

The Chargers have placed Parham (concussion) on injured reserve.

Parham suffered a concussion in Week 15 versus the Chiefs. It was severe enough that he will now need to spend at least the next three weeks on injured reserve.

  • Chargers' Donald Parham: Won't play Week 16

Parham (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game at Houston.

Parham suffered the concussion Week 15 against Kansas City and was unable to clear the NFL's concussion protocol this week. Stephen Anderson will serve as the Chargers' No. 2 tight end Sunday behind starter Jared Cook.

  • Chargers' Donald Parham: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Parham (concussion) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice session.

Parham was stretchered off the field in Thursday's loss to Kansas City and was diagnosed with a concussion after the game. He'll likely need to practice in some capacity this week if he hopes to play Sunday against Houston.

  • Chargers' Donald Parham: Diagnosed with concussion

The Chargers announced that Parham sustained a concussion in Thursday's 34-28 overtime loss to the Chiefs but is otherwise resting comfortably and is likely to be discharged from a hospital later Friday.

Though the concussion clouds Parham's availability heading into the final three games of the regular season, the diagnosis is a welcome outcome after the tight end appeared to lose consciousness and was subsequently stretchered off the field early in the first quarter when his head slammed hard into the ground. Fortunately for Parham, he was deemed to be in stable condition upon arriving at the hospital, and follow-up tests and imaging revealed nothing beyond the concussion. He'll now have to navigate the NFL's five-step protocol for head injuries as the Chargers prepare for a Dec. 26 matchup with the Texans in Week 16.

  • Chargers' Donald Parham: Suffers head injury

Parham suffered a head injury in Thursday's game against the Chiefs and was transported to the hospital for further evaluation, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports.

It appeared that Parham had hauled in a touchdown in the back corner of the end zone to conclude the Chargers' opening drive. However, he suffered a head injury on the play and spent several minutes being tended to by trainers before taken off the field on a stretcher. There's no further official word on the injury, though he was seen moving his extremities.

  • Chargers' Donald Parham: Clear of injury designation

Parham (knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Thursday's game against the Chiefs.

Parham worked as a full practice participant Wednesday and was able to avoid the questionable tag for the Week 15 game. Top tight end, Jared Cook (quadriceps) is also good to go for Thursday, so Parham should fill his usual role as the Chargers' No. 2 option at the position.

  • Chargers' Donald Parham: Listed as limited Tuesday

Parham (knee) was limited on Tuesday's estimated practice report.

Like top tight end Jared Cook (quadriceps), Parham improved upon his listing of DNP on Monday, fitting in some reps at a walkthrough Tuesday. Ultimately, Wednesday's injury report will reveal whether the players emerge from Week 15 prep with or without designations for Thursday's game against the Chiefs.

  • Chargers' Donald Parham: Two catches in win

Parham caught both of his targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 37-21 win over the Giants on Sunday.

Parham played 41 percent of all offensive snaps, but he was held in check against a New York defense that gives up the 14th most yards to the tight-end position. After catching three touchdowns in his first six games this season, the young tight end has not caught a TD pass in his last five outings. For the 24-year-old to be an effective tight end in fantasy, he must figure out a way to get back in the end zone due to a lack of targets (26 in 13 games). Parham and the Chargers get a Chiefs defensive unit on Thursday, one that has looked very strong as of late.
