Greenlaw registered 10 tackles (eight solo) in Sunday's 35-16 win over the Cardinals.

  • 49ers' Dre Greenlaw: Will play Sunday

Greenlaw (ankle) is active Sunday against the Cardinals.

Greenlaw closed out the week with back-to-back limited practices, which was enough to get the Arkansas product on the field Sunday. He should hold down his usual role at weakside linebacker against Arizona.

  • 49ers' Dre Greenlaw: Considered questionable

Greenlaw (ankle) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's clash with the Cardinals, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Greenlaw progressed from non-participant to practicing in limited fashion as the week progressed, so he is seemingly trending in the right direction. Still, his final status is unlikely to be confirmed until Sunday morning. Dee Winters would be the prime candidate to replace him at weakside linebacker should he not ultimately get the green light.

  • 49ers' Dre Greenlaw: Limited practice Thursday

Greenlaw (ankle) was a limited participant at the 49ers' practice Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Greenlaw missed the team's first practice of the week Wednesday, but his return to the field Thursday bodes well for his chances to play Sunday versus the Cardinals. The linebacker will have one more opportunity to increase his workload Friday ahead of Week 4.

  • 49ers' Dre Greenlaw: Absent from practice Wednesday

Greenlaw (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Greenlaw was injured in the Week 3 win over the Giants six days ago. It was initially reported that Greenlaw was day-to-day with the injury, so perhaps the 49ers are just being cautious with their starting linebacker.

  • 49ers' Dre Greenlaw: Day-to-day with ankle injury

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday that Greenlaw is "day to day" with an ankle injury he suffered in Thursday night's 30-12 win over the Giants, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Greenlaw suffered the injury in the second half and logged just 84 percent of the defensive snaps after playing 97 percent and 99 percent in Weeks 1 and 2. On the season, he has 22 tackles, one TFL, one QB hit and one pass breakup. The 49ers get a sort of mini-bye ahead of a Week 4 contest versus Arizona nine days from now.

  • 49ers' Dre Greenlaw: Five tackles in Week 3 win

Greenlaw recorded five tackles (four solo) and a quarterback hit in Thursday's 30-12 win over the Giants.

Greenlaw tied for the team lead in tackles on a relatively easy night for San Francisco's vaunted defense against a Giants team playing without star running back Saquon Barkley (ankle). With 22 tackles through three games, Greenlaw's on pace for similar production to last year's 127-tackle campaign.

Greenlaw recorded 12 tackles (seven solo) and a pass defensed in Sunday's 30-23 win at the Rams.

Greenlaw was able to notch a great tackle total despite Matthew Stafford throwing 55 pass attempts in Week 2. He achieved a career-high 127 tackles in 2022 and is well on pace to surpass that figure in 2023.

  • 49ers' Dre Greenlaw: Back at practice

Greenlaw (groin) was a limited participant at the 49ers' practice on Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

  • 49ers' Dre Greenlaw: Misses practice Wednesday

Greenlaw (groin) did not participate at practice Wednesday ahead of Sunday's game at the Rams, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Greenlaw is reportedly sore following San Francisco's win at Pittsburgh in Week 1, but it's not clear if he's actually at risk of missing game action. In any case, the 49ers' Thursday and Friday injury reports should hopefully shed more light on the situation.

  • 49ers' Dre Greenlaw: Back at practice

Greenlaw (hamstring) was a full participant at practice Monday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

The 26-year-old linebacker had been sidelined by a hamstring issue since Aug. 10, but it now appears he's set up to play Week 1 at Pittsburgh. After recording a career-high 127 tackles in 2022, he'll likely be busy right off the bat in 2023 against a Steelers ground attack helmed by Najee Harris.

  • 49ers' Dre Greenlaw: Non-participant at practice

Greenlaw (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Aside from some side work, Greenlaw has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since Aug. 10. The original expectation was that he would be back by now, but it looks like the 49ers are continuing to err on the side of caution. When healthy, the 26-year-old is slated to start at weak-side linebacker. Next week's injury report should provide much more clarity on Greenlaw's status heading into Week 1.

  • 49ers' Dre Greenlaw: Still working on side

Greenlaw (hamstring) is still working on the side at practice, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The original expectation was that Greenlaw would have returned to full contact at practice by now. There has been no word on any type of setback with his hamstring, so it is possible that the 49ers are just erring on the side of caution with their starting weak-side linebacker. The 26-year-old recorded 127 tackles (82 solo), one interception, six passes defended, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries across 15 games in 2022.
