McCaffrey was suspended 10 weeks by the NFL, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
McCaffrey has actually already served two of those weeks after the suspension was levied in Week 8, but it's safe to say the free-agent wide receiver won't be on an NFL roster anytime soon, particularly after he was recently drafted by the XFL's DC Defenders.

Max McCaffrey: Let go by San Fran
McCaffrey was waived by the 49ers on Saturday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
McCaffrey joined the 49ers' active roster for the season finale in December and played a handful of offensive snaps. The 25-year-old spent the rest of the season on the practice squad and seems destined for a similar role this season, assuming he latches on elsewhere.

49ers' Max McCaffrey: Joins 49ers for season finale
McCaffrey was promoted to the 49ers' active roster Saturday.
McCaffrey was waived by San Francisco in late August and received a four-game suspension shortly thereafter before joining the team's practice squad in November. Marquise Goodwin (calf) was ruled out for Sunday and Dante Pettis (knee) is now on injured reserve, so there could be some offensive opportunities for the 24-year-old in the finale.

McCaffrey (suspension) signed with the 49ers' practice squad Tuesday.
McCaffrey missed the entire preseason due to a foot injury and was waived by San Francisco in late August, only to receive a four-game suspension shortly thereafter. The 24-year-old has also spent time with the Jaguars, Raiders, Packers and Saints, but has played in only five games with one catch for four yards in his career.

McCaffrey has been handed a four-game suspension by the NFL, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
McCaffrey was waived by the 49ers in late August, and the suspension would partially explain why he doesn't have a team yet. The 24-year-old leaves a lot to be desired, too, as he played five games for the Jaguars last season, making one catch for four yards.

Max McCaffrey: Waived by San Francisco
McCaffrey (foot) was waived by the 49ers on Wednesday.
McCaffrey sat out the entire preseason due to the foot injury that will require surgery, which killed his chances of making the team. Though he's only entering his third season in the professional ranks, McCaffrey has already bounced around the league quite a bit with stints in Oakland, Green Bay, New Orleans and Jacksonville prior to signing with San Francisco last December. Assuming he clears waivers, McCaffrey will revert to the 49ers' injured reserve list.

McCaffrey will not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Texans due to a foot injury, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
After appearing in five games for the Jaguars last season, McCaffrey signed with the 49ers this offseason with hopes of securing a 53-man roster. Missing time during the preseason doesn't help his cause, especially with a large portion of Week 3 of the preseason reserved for starters.

McCaffrey ended up on the Packers' practice squad in late October after being waived by Jacksonville, and the move to San Fransisco is likely a result of rookie wideout Victor Bolden going down with an ankle injury Sunday. Signing McCaffrey probably means that Bolden is set to miss time, but McCaffrey is not expected to be much of a factor in the passing game regardless.

The Packers signed McCaffrey to their practice squad Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
McCaffrey turned in an impressive preseason for the Packers and made a compelling case for a roster spot, but was ultimately one of the team's final cuts. The Duke product quickly reached a deal with the Saints' practice squad before being signed onto the Jaguars' 53-man roster in September. McCaffrey appeared in five games for the Jacksonville, but was targeted just once during that span, gaining four yards on his lone reception before being waived last weekend. After clearing waivers, McCaffrey will return to the Packers, but will likely need an injury or two to hit the team's wideout ranks before being promoted to the active roster.

McCaffrey joined the Jaguars when Allen Robinson (knee) was placed on injured reserve after Week 1, but played a minimal role on offense with one reception for four yards on the season. A member of the organization since Dec. 20, McCaffrey has been promoted to the active roster due to a host of injuries within the receiving corps. There's a very real chance he's among the Packers' inactive list for Sunday's NFC championship game, but even if he isn't, he'll be hard-pressed to make his presence felt within the offense.
