Steelers' James Pierre: Registers INT in win
Pierre posted five tackles (three solo), two pass breakups and an interception in Sunday's 27-22 win over the Ravens.
Pierre suffered a concussion in last week's game against the Bills, but he cleared the league's protocol and returned to the field to notch his first interception of the season. The veteran cornerback took over the starting job after the Steelers cut Darius Slay, and he has a good chance to stay in that role moving forward after Asante Samuel played just one defensive snap in this game.

Steelers' James Pierre: Clears concussion protocol
Pierre (concussion) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Pierre exited the Steelers' 26-7 loss to the Bills early last Sunday with a concussion. The outside cornerback's ability to practice in full Thursday and Friday enabled him to clear the league's concussion protocol. The 29-year-old is set to start Sunday's game alongside Joey Porter.

Steelers' James Pierre: Looks to clear concussion protocol
Pierre (concussion) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Pierre remains in the league's concussion protocol, but his upgrade to a full practice Thursday is another step in the right direction toward eventually being cleared. The cornerback exited last Sunday's loss to the Bills due to the injury, with newly signed Asante Samuel replacing him. The starting outside cornerback might find himself opposite Samuel for Sunday's matchup with the Ravens if Joey Porter (elbow) is unable to suit up.

Steelers' James Pierre: Practicing in limited fashion
Pierre (concussion) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice.
Pierre suffered a concussion during this past Sunday's loss to the Bills. It's encouraging that he's already back on the practice field, but he'll still need to clear the league's concussion protocol before he can potentially play in Sunday's game versus the Ravens. The Steelers just waived Darius Slay and signed Asante Samuel to the active roster to take his place, so Samuel is expected to start if Pierre can't go. There's a chance Samuel takes over the starting role altogether at some point down the stretch, too.

Steelers' James Pierre: Enters concussion protocol
Pierre is in concussion protocol and will be limited in practice to start the week, Missi Matthews of the Steelers' official site reports.
Pierre appears to have suffered a concussion in Sunday's 26-7 loss to the Bills, and he will have to clear the league's concussion protocol to be available for the team's divisional showdown with the Ravens in Week 14. After Pierre's early exit Sunday, Asante Samuel made his Steelers debut and played 28 defensive snaps to finish out the game. The newly signed corner will likely start for the Steelers on Sunday if Pierre has not cleared concussion protocol.

Steelers' James Pierre: Exits game Sunday
Pierre (head) is questionable to return to Pittsburgh's matchup versus Buffalo on Sunday, Burt Lauten of the team's official site reports.
Pierre is currently being evaluated for a concussion after exiting the game in the second half. If the 29-year-old ends up being unable to return, Asante Samuel should step in as one of the team's top cornerbacks.

Steelers' James Pierre: Returns fumble for TD in Week 11
Pierre posted six tackles (three solo), two defensed passes and a fumble recovery, which he returned for a touchdown, in Sunday's 34-12 victory over the Bengals.
Pierre got the start and logged every one of the Steelers' defensive snaps with Darius Slay (concussion) unable to play. Pierre responded with a big game, finishing third on the Steelers in stops and recording two defensed passes. His biggest play came late in the fourth quarter, when he put the finishing touch on a Pittsburgh victory by recovering a fumble and taking it 34 yards to the house for a touchdown. It was the first score for Pierre in his six-year NFL career.

Steelers' James Pierre: Remains in Steel City
The Steelers and Pierre agreed to a one-year contract Thursday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
Pierre spent the 2024 offseason and preseason with the Commanders but didn't make the team in advance of Week 1. He eventually landed on the Steelers' practice squad in September before joining the active roster outright by the end of that month, starting two of his 16 appearances (including playoffs). Overall, the five-year pro recorded his third campaign with at least 20 tackles (23 last season, to be precise) and added three pass defenses (including one interception) and two forced fumbles. Pierre again will serve as a depth option at cornerback and as a regular on special teams in 2025.

Steelers' James Pierre: Holds rotational role in 2024
Pierre recorded 23 tackles (17 solo), three pass defenses (including an interception) and two forced fumbles over 15 regular-season games in 2024.
Pierre recorded more snaps on special teams than on defense, though he did make two starts for the Steelers. The veteran cornerback got far more defensive snaps (196) than in the season prior, when he logged just 23. Pierre is set to be a free agent, and though he's valued by the Steelers for his role as a core special-teamer, he's not certain to be back with the team next season.

Pierre signed a contract with the Commanders on Thursday.
Pierre spent the last four seasons in Pittsburgh, where he suited up for 16 regular-season games in 2023 while mostly contributing on special teams (267 snaps). He now gets an opportunity to compete for a depth role in the Commanders' cornerback corps this offseason.

Steelers' James Pierre: Practices in full Tuesday
Pierre (shoulder) was a full participant in Tuesday's practice, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Pierre missed Thursday's 21-18 loss to the Patriots with a shoulder injury that he had been able to play through the two previous weeks. Head coach Mike Tomlin noted after Tuesday's practice that Pierre "has an opportunity to play" in Saturday's contest against the Colts.
