  • Jets' Kenyon Sadiq: Listed questionable for Sunday

Sadiq (back) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears.

After logging limited practices earlier in the week, Sadiq now carries a questionable tag into Week 4. With Mason Taylor (thumb) already ruled out against Chicago, Sadiq's status bears monitoring over the next 48 hours. If he's cleared to play, the rookie tight end should once again have a significant pass-catching role after posting his first career 100-yard receiving game with a touchdown last Sunday against the Lions.

  • Jets' Kenyon Sadiq: Another limited practice Thursday

Sadiq (back) remained limited at practice Thursday.

Sadiq has been limited in each of the Jets' first two practices leading up to Sunday's game against the Bears. The rookie tight end took a hard landing on a diving catch that resulted in the first receiving touchdown of his NFL career in the Week 3 loss to the Lions, so his back injury may be connected to that play. Sadiq will have one more chance to increase his practice participation level Friday before the Jets release their Week 4 injury statuses.

  • Jets' Kenyon Sadiq: Dealing with back issue

Sadiq was limited at Wednesday's practice due to a back injury.

Meanwhile, fellow TE Jeremy Ruckert (knee) also was limited, while Mason Taylor (thumb) didn't practice. In Taylor's absence this past Sunday at Detroit, Sadiq, a rookie first-round pick, broke out with seven catches (on eight targets) for 105 yards and one touchdown. Another hefty workload could be on tap for Sadiq in Week 5 at Chicago if Taylor remains sidelined and Ruckert also is less than 100 percent. First, though, the statuses of the three players will continue to be watched to get a sense of the overall situation.

  • Jets' Kenyon Sadiq: Limited in Wednesday's practice

Sadiq (undisclosed) was limited in Wednesday's practice, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.

It's unclear if Sadiq suffered an injury last Sunday against Detroit or if this is related to his offseason hernia surgery. Coming off a big Week 3 in which he posted a 7-105-1 receiving line on eight targets versus the Lions, Sadiq is poised for a significant pass-catching role Sunday against the Bears as long as he's healthy.

  • Jets' Kenyon Sadiq: Catches first TD pass

Sadiq caught seven of eight passes for 105 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Lions.

The rookie tight end made a spectacular play to haul in his first career TD reception in the second quarter, leaping from about the five-yard line and stretching out the full length of his 6-foot-3 frame to bring in a 24-yard pass from Geno Smith. Sadiq is very quickly making an impact with his athleticism, and through his first three NFL games he's compiled a 12-143-1 line on 14 targets while adding a three-yard score on his only carry. He'll look to continue building chemistry with Smith in a Week 4 road trip to Chicago.

  • Jets' Kenyon Sadiq: Two snags in loss

Sadiq caught two of three targets for 17 yards during Sunday's 20-17 overtime loss to the Packers.

Sadiq was only on the field for 27 of the team's 74 offensive snaps, but he was able to record multiple catches for the second game in a row to open his career. The most notable development of the game for Sadiq came in the second half when starting tight end Mason Taylor suffered a thumb injury. If Taylor is unavailable for Week 3, Sadiq would stand to operate as the Jets' unquestioned top option at tight end against the Lions' porous secondary.

  • Jets' Kenyon Sadiq: Creeps into No. 1 TE conversation

Sadiq caught all three of his targets for 31 yards in Sunday's 23-10 win over the Titans. He added one rush for a three-yard touchdown.

Sadiq caught one more pass than current listed No. 1 tight end Mason Taylor, and his 31 yards dwarfed Taylor's negative two. The first-round rookie also showcased his versatility when he scored a three-yard rushing touchdown on an end-around early in the first quarter. Sadiq could eventually take over as the primary big-bodied option for the Jets now that he is fully healthy and has experienced the NFL regular season.

  • Jets' Kenyon Sadiq: Listed as full-go Wednesday

Sadiq (hernia) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

The first-round rookie has bounced back from his offseason hernia surgery and is now gearing up for his NFL debut this Sunday. Sadiq was back to participating in positional drills earlier in the week. At this stage, Sadiq is very much on track to be ready for the start of the season.

  • Jets' Kenyon Sadiq: Involved in positional drills

Sadiq (hernia) was spotted taking part in positional drills during Tuesday's practice, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.

The rookie first-round pick missed nearly all of training camp and the preseason after experiencing a setback in his recovery from hernia surgery, but Jets head coach Aaron Glenn had been optimistic over the past week that Sadiq would be ready to go for Week 1 against Tennessee. The extensive time he missed over the summer means that he'll likely have to settle for a small role off the bat, and Mason Taylor looks to be the leading candidate to lead the tight-end group in snaps out of the gate.

  • Jets' Kenyon Sadiq: On track for Week 1

Coach Aaron Glenn said Monday that Sadiq (hernia) remains on track to play Week 1 against the Titans, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.

Sadiq missed most of training camp and the entirety of the preseason, but the first-round rookie now will begin ramping up his activity level over the next 10 days to get ready for the regular-season opener. He isn't going to have an every-down role out of the gates for the Jets due to all of the missed practice time, and the expectation is Mason Taylor operates as more of an every-down tight end for New York. Sadiq is someone to monitor in fantasy leagues at the beginning of the season to see how his role grows in an offense starved for playmakers.
