  • Tanner McLachlan: Cut from practice squad

The Chargers cut McLachlan from the practice squad Tuesday. McLachlan's spot on the practice squad will be taken by wide receiver Luke Grimm. A second-year pro, McLachlan ultimately was not elevated to suit up for a regular-season game with Los Angeles in 2025.

  • Tanner McLachlan: Back to Chargers' practice squad

Los Angeles re-signed McLachlan to the practice squad Friday. McLachlan was cut from the Bolts' practice squad Wednesday, but he now resurfaces with the unit. The second-year pro initially inked with Los Angeles' practice squad Dec. 11 after a workout with the team, and he has yet to be elevated for a game this season.

  • Tanner McLachlan: Cut from Bolts' practice squad

The Chargers cut McLachlan from the practice squad Wednesday. The move corresponds with the Chargers signing center Josh Kaltenberger to the practice squad. McLachlan has spent time with the Chargers and Bengals on their respective squads this season, and the 2024 sixth-rounder will aim to catch on with a team in need of depth at tight end.

  • Tanner McLachlan: Signs with Chargers' practice squad

Los Angeles signed McLachlan to the practice squad Thursday. McLachlan worked out with the Chargers on Tuesday and now gets an opportunity with the team. He's fully recovered from the back issue that caused him to be waived from IR by the Bengals early September. In 2024, McLachlan appeared in two regular-season games with Cincinnati but wasn't targeted.

  • Tanner McLachlan: Works out with Chargers

McLachlan (undisclosed) was hosted by the Chargers for a workout Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. McLachlan was let go by the Bengals in early September after reaching an injury settlement with the team. The tight end now appears to be back to full health, and he'll look to latch on with a team for the stretch run of the season.

  • Tanner McLachlan: Waived from IR

McLachlan (undisclosed) was waived from injured reserve Friday by the Bengals, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. McLachlan -- who was let go with an injury settlement -- suited up for just two games as a rookie last season. The nature and severity of his injury have yet to be clarified, but this move opens up the possibility of McLachlan suiting up this season, once he's healthy.

  • Bengals' Tanner McLachlan: Reverts to IR

McLachlan (undisclosed) reverted to injured reserve Wednesday. McLachlan wasn't claimed after being waived with an injury designation Tuesday, so he'll spend the 2025 season on IR. He appeared in two regular-season games for Cincinnati in 2024.

  • Tanner McLachlan: Sent to waivers

The Bengals waived/injured McLachlan (undisclosed) on Tuesday. If McLachlan clears waivers, he'll revert to the Bengals' injured reserve where he'll remain for the rest of the season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team. The 2024 sixth-round pick played in just two games for the Bengals last season and wasn't targeted.

  • Bengals' Tanner McLachlan: Tiny impact

McLachlan, the Bengals' sixth-round pick in the 2024 draft, was elevated from the practice squad in only two games, netting just five offensive snaps and 17 special-teams snaps. He was not targeted on any passes. McLachlan was considered to have a decent receiving upside potential from the tight-end spot, but he couldn't crack the Bengals' rotation despite the team employing tight ends in the passing game more frequently in 2024.

  • Bengals' Tanner McLachlan: Not debuting Sunday

McLachlan (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's Week 13 battle against the Steelers. McLachlan, a rookie sixth-round draft pick out of Arizona, will continue to wait to make his NFL debut. It would likely take an absence to a tight end above him on the depth chart -- Mike Gesicki, Drew Sample, or Tanner Hudson -- for McLachlan to be given a chance to suit up on game day.

  • Bengals' Tanner McLachlan: Cincy adds another tight end

The Bengals selected McLachlan in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 194th overall. McLachlan marks the second tight end to land in Cincinnati during the draft, as the team also selected Eric All in the fourth round. McLachlan was a strong receiving weapon with Arizona throughout his collegiate career, as he racked up a combined 79 receptions for 984 yards and six touchdowns across his final 25 games. While those numbers are promising, he will need to improve as a blocker to find the field regularly.
