Buccaneers' Tez Johnson: Reaches end zone in blowout win
Johnson caught both of his targets for 33 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 43-13 win over the Panthers.
Johnson led Tampa Bay in receiving yards while he was one of two pass-catchers with multiple receptions. Quarterback Baker Mayfield made his return to action after missing three games with a thumb injury, and he only attempted 11 passes, but the two connected for a 14-yard score in the second quarter. On the year, Johnson has now reeled in nine of 15 targets for 178 yards and a touchdown over seven contests. He was operating in a more prominent role with Emeka Egbuka (concussion/foot) unavailable Sunday, and if Egbuka is available in Week 8, Johnson figures to revert back to a depth role versus the Falcons.

Buccaneers' Tez Johnson: Expanded workload sans Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka (concussion/foot) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Panthers, so Johnson and the rest of the Buccaneers pass catchers will be tasked with larger roles offensively.
Egbuka has seen at least nine targets in three of the Buccaneers' last four games, and those looks will be spread to Johnson, veteran Chris Godwin and rookie third-rounder Ted Hurst. The loss of Egbuka is significant for Tampa Bay's passing game, but the good news is franchise quarterback Baker Mayfield (thumb) appears on track to return from a three-game absence to play in Week 7. It's been an inconsistent season for Johnson, who has 20 receiving yards or less in four of six regular-season games and has a 7-145-0 receiving line on 13 targets.

Buccaneers' Tez Johnson: Hauls in 64-yard pass vs. Dallas
Johnson caught his lone target for 64 yards during Thursday's 24-16 win over the Cowboys.
Johnson took advantage of the Cowboys' lapse in the secondary, with the second-year wideout on the receiving end of a deep ball from Jalon Daniels that the former turned into a 64-yard catch that led to a one-yard touchdown run by Bucky Irving three plays later. It was Johnson's second catch of 40-plus yards this season and third since entering the league in 2025 as a seventh-round draft pick. It's hard to rely on consistent production from the Bucs' pass catchers while Daniels is under center instead of Baker Mayfield (thumb), though Johnson is capable of having occasional big plays.

Johnson caught one of his four targets for 49 yards and returned two punts for 14 yards in Sunday's 23-19 loss to the Browns.
Johnson played 19 offensive snaps compared to Emeka Egbuka's 56 snaps, Chris Godwin's 56 snaps and Ted Hurst's 48 snaps. The No. 5 wide receiver generated one explosive play for the Buccaneers' offense but could not provide much more to the cause in the losing effort.

Buccaneers' Tez Johnson: One catch to close preseason
Johnson secured one of three targets for nine yards in the Buccaneers' 19-0 preseason loss to the Jaguars on Friday.
Johnson recorded his one catch on his initial target of the night, which came with 5:47 remaining in the first quarter on the Buccaneers' second possession. Friday's action was the first of the preseason for the 2025 seventh-round pick, who'd missed the first two exhibitions due to an Aug. 4 groin strain. Johnson outperformed his draft slotting as a rookie with a 28-322-5 line over 16 regular-season games a year ago, and he should have a good chance of reprising a depth receiver role to open the 2026 season.

Buccaneers' Tez Johnson: Back at practice Tuesday
Johnson (groin) is taking part in Tuesday's practice, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Though it's not clear whether Johnson will be a full or limited participant in Tuesday's session, his presence on the field in any capacity is a sign that he's made good progress in his recovery from a groin strain he sustained earlier this month. Johnson at least appears to be in a better spot on the health front than fellow wideouts Emeka Egbuka (toe) and Jalen McMillan (knee), who are both remaining sidelined Tuesday.

Johnson sustained a strained groin during practice Tuesday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Johnson had to leave practice early Tuesday after picking up the injury. It's unclear at this point how severe the strain is or how long it will keep the second-year wideout sidelined. Any missed time in practice or preseason games could be a big deal for Johnson, as he's jockeying for pecking-order position with the likes of Jalen McMillan (knee) and Ted Hurst in the Bucs' wideout room.

Buccaneers' Tez Johnson: Shows flashes in rookie season
Johnson brought in his only target for 17 yards and rushed once for five yards in the Buccaneers' 16-14 win over the Panthers on Saturday. He finished his 2025 rookie campaign with 28 receptions for 322 yards and five touchdowns on 44 targets while adding seven rushes for 22 yards across 16 games.
The 2025 seventh-round pick saw more work than expected as Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Jalen McMillan all dealt with injuries, helping Johnson to gain some value reps early in his NFL career. He logged snap rates of between 57 percent to 73 percent in seven straight games from Week 6 to Week 13. Johnson's workload faded down the stretch as the receiving corps got healthy, but he made a solid first impression and should compete for reserve snaps in 2026.
