Oilers' Colby Cave: Passes away at 25
Cave passed away Saturday morning, TSN reports.
Cave was placed in a medically induced coma after undergoing emergency surgery Tuesday to remove a colloid cyst that was causing pressure on his brain, an operation that he tragically was unable to recover from. The Battleford, Saskatchewan native was just 25 years old.

Cave remains in a medically induced coma and will continue to be evaluated by doctors at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. He was admitted to the hospital Tuesday after suffering a brain bleed Monday night.

Cave had a brief NHL stint in December but hasn't appeared in a contest with the big club since November. The 6-foot-1 forward has 20 points in 40 AHL appearances this season and one goal in five NHL games. Cave scored his first goal of the season in Saturday's 2-1 overtime win over the Penguins.
Called up from AHL Bakersfield on Friday, Cave made a quick impact as he opened the scoring in the second period by beating Marcus Pettersson wide then cutting to the net and waiting out Matt Murray before tucking the puck home past the sprawling netminder. Cave managed only three goals and eight points in 53 games last year while splitting time between Boston and Edmonton, and his fourth-line assignment won't give the 24-year-old too many more opportunities to hit the scoresheet while he's on the NHL roster.
