No. 1 – QB Williams. Redshirt sophomore Ryan Williams will get more reps in the spring with junior Stephen Morris missing time due to back surgery. Williams played as a freshman at Memphis, completing 165-of-290 passes for 2,075 yards and 13 touchdowns. Williams sat out last season after transferring. At 6-6, 220, Williams has a pro-style QB body but he has also impressed the coaching staff with his movement and ability to handle agility drills in the offseason. No. 2 – LB Cain. Kelvin Cain, a 6-3, 238-pound junior, was impressive as a freshman, playing in 11 games and starting four. He tailed off last season, only playing in nine games and starting the last two. He's listed as one of the starters at OLB to start spring football, but will have to keep his production up to keep his first-team spot as other players have been raving about back up, redshirt freshman Eddie Johnson. No. 3 – RB Crawford. Redshirt freshman Dallas Crawford came to school as a DB. He's been switched to RB because of the lack of depth at the position. Crawford, 5-10, 190, was a running QB in high school and has the ability to create "X Plays", or explosive plays, according to coach Golden. RB Mike James said he "can't wait to see" how OC Jedd Fisch will use Crawford in the offense.
