Edwards (glute) is listed as a non-participant on Thursday's estimated practice report.
Edwards also missed practice Wednesday. The starting linebacker appears to have emerged from Chicago's win over Green Bay in Week 16 with a notable glute issue, despite playing 100 percent of defensive snaps versus the Packers and compiling 10 tackles (five solo) including 0.5 sacks. Friday will be his last chance to take the practice field ahead of Sunday's contest against the 49ers.

Edwards (glute) did not participate in Wednesday's practice.
Edwards had a double-digit tackle game last Saturday against the Packers. At the same time, he played 100 percent of the team's defensive snaps, so it is unclear when the linebacker sustained his current injury. The 29-year-old will have two more chances to increase his practice participation in hopes of dodging an injury designation before Sunday night's prime-time game against the 49ers.

Bears' T.J. Edwards: Fills up tackle column in win
Edwards recorded 10 tackles, including five solo, and 0.5 sacks in the Bears' 22-16 overtime win over the Packers on Saturday.
Edwards posted his third game with more than seven tackles while appearing in eight games this season while maintaining a floor of at least four stops in every outing. The 0.5 sacks marked his first of the year, adding a rare splash play to his tackle production. He remains a moderate-floor IDP based on steady involvement.

Edwards suffered a hand injury in Week 9 against Cincinnati and hasn't been able to play since. He was deemed a DNP in all three practices this week (though two were walkthroughs), so it's not clear if he's anywhere close to returning. Fellow linebackers Ruben Hyppolite (shoulder) and Noah Sewell (elbow) have also been ruled out for Friday, and Tremaine Edmunds (groin) landed on IR on Saturday, so the Bears will be extremely thin at the position.
