Horwitz went 2-for-4 with two walks, two doubles, one RBI and three runs scored Wednesday against the A's.

Horwitz helped the Pirates jump out to an early lead with a double in each of his first two plate appearances, and he came around to score on each occasion. The outfielder is hitting .310 with an .801 OPS, two homers, eight RBI, 11 runs scored, five doubles and six stolen bases over 32 contests. Bolte hit for fairly modest power in the minors, aside from earlier this year when he clubbed 12 homers in 37 games for Triple-A Las Vegas prior to his call-up to the majors. Civale missed about three weeks due to right shoulder tendinitis. He threw 46 of 71 pitches for strikes, but it was performance as much as workload that caused his early exit. He's allowed 18 runs over 12 innings across his last three starts in the majors. Civale now has a 4.91 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 41:19 K:BB over 58.2 innings through 12 starts this season. His next start is projected to be on the road in San Francisco, which is about as favorable a matchup as a struggling pitcher can ask for, though Civale's recent performance means he'll still carry some risk.

Jensen went 4-for-4 with a walk, a double, a solo home run and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Nationals.

The 22-year-old backstop set the tone for the afternoon when he drove the fourth pitch he saw from Zack Littell over the fence in the right-field corner, the first of four long balls by Kansas City. It was the first four-hit performance of Jensen's career, and it extended his current hit streak to nine games, a stretch in which he's batting .361 (13-for-36) with five doubles, two homers, seven runs and nine RBI. His next start is projected to be on the road in San Francisco, which is about as favorable a matchup as a struggling pitcher can ask for, though Civale's recent performance means he'll still carry some risk.

Ashcraft (6-3) allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out seven over six innings to earn the win over the Athletics on Wednesday.

Ashcraft had his best start of June in this outing, throwing 58 of 93 pitches for strikes. This was his ninth quality start in 15 games this season. He has a 3.18 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 97:22 K:BB through 90.2 innings on the year. Ashcraft has largely taken care of business in easy matchups, giving him a reliable floor in fantasy. His next start is projected to come at home versus the Mariners.

Mariners' George Kirby: Takes loss in quality start
    4h ago

Kirby (5-7) allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out five without walking a batter over six innings to take the loss versus the Orioles on Wednesday.

Kirby gave up just two extra-base hits, but they were critical. Gunnar Henderson tagged him for a two-run home run in the third inning and Leodys Taveras added an RBI triple in the sixth. This was Kirby's second quality start in a row, but hes' allowed at least three runs in six straight outings, going 0-5 in that span. He's now at a 4.10 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 79:21 K:BB through 90 innings over 15 starts. Kirby will look to shake off the funk in his next start, which is tentatively projected to be on the road in Pittsburgh.

Orioles' Kyle Bradish: Dominant in fourth win
    4h ago

Bradish (4-7) allowed one run on five hits and two walks while striking out 12 over 7.2 innings to earn the win over the Mariners on Wednesday.

Bradish set season highs in innings pitched and strikeouts in this dominant performance. It was a big bounce-back effort after he allowed five runs in each of his previous two starts. The right-hander now has a 4.00 ERA with a 1.51 WHIP and 85:41 K:BB across 81 innings over 15 starts this season. He has issued multiple free passes in seven straight starts and in 13 of his 15 games this season, which continues to limit his overall effectiveness. Bradish is lined up for a favorable road start early next week against the Angels.

Rockies' Sean Sullivan: Yields eight runs in loss
    5h ago

Sullivan (0-1) allowed eight runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out two over four innings to take the loss versus the Cubs on Wednesday.

Sullivan threw 56 of 82 pitches for strikes, but the Cubs had no trouble getting to him. The southpaw threw three scoreless innings against the Athletics last week before his major-league debut was cut short by an illness. Sullivan pitched to a 5.76 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 50:10 K:BB over 54.2 innings with Triple-A Albuquerque prior to his call-up, and given his tough home park, he's a risky option at best in fantasy. If Tanner Gordon (hip) remains out next week, Sullivan is tentatively projected to make a home start versus the Red Sox.

Braves' JR Ritchie: Struggles in loss
    5h ago

Ritchie (1-2) was tagged with the loss Wednesday in the 7-5 defeat to the Giants after he allowed five runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four in five innings.

Ritchie was tagged for five runs early as he gave up three home runs in the first two innings Wednesday. This was Ritchie's first start since being recalled from the minors last week. The 22-year-old was also a bit wild in the game, throwing strikes on only 54 of his 90 pitches and issuing at least three free passes for a fourth time in seven MLB outings. Spencer Strider's (elbow) presence on the injured list should allow Ritchie to pick up another start next week in San Diego.

Cubs' Javier Assad: Earns fifth win
    5h ago

Assad (5-1) allowed two runs on five hits and struck out one without walking a batter to earn the win over the Rockies on Wednesday.

Assad came up an out short of a quality start, but he picked up his second win in a row. He's allowed just two runs over 18 innings across three outings (two starts) in June while filling in for Jameson Taillon (hamstring) in the rotation. Assad now has a 3.89 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 25:9 K:BB through 44 innings over 11 appearances (five starts) on the year. Taillon is expected to be out beyond the All-Star break and Matthew Boyd (knee/shoulder) is making a rehab start Saturday, so Assad is tentatively projected for at least one more start. He's lined up to face the Mets in New York next week.

Giants' Tristan Beck: First save of season
    5h ago

Beck earned the save Wednesday in the 7-5 win against Atlanta after retiring both batters he faced with one strikeout.

The 29-year-old locked down his first save of the season after Matt Gage's struggles in the ninth created a save situation. Beck has been shuttled back-and-forth between the majors and minors numerous times this season but has largely struggled in the big leagues with an 8.31 ERA and 4:2 K:BB across 10 innings. Despite Wednesday's save, the right-hander isn't likely to see much high-leverage action out of the bullpen for the Giants.

Varland secured the save Wednesday against the Red Sox, striking out the side.

Varland made quick work of the scuffling Boston bats Wednesday, throwing all but one of his 10 pitches for strikes. After taking over the closing duties from Jeff Hoffman earlier this year, Varland is running away with the job in 2026. Through 40 innings, the 28-year-old right-hander boasts a 0.90 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 55:11 K:BB while going a pristine 14-for-14 in save situations.

Blue Jays' Simeon Woods Richardson: Finally gets into win column

Woods Richardson (1-7) notched the win Wednesday against the Red Sox, allowing no runs on three hits and three walks in three innings. He struck out one.

Woods Richardson landed only 28 of his 55 offerings for strikes, but he still managed to keep Boston off the board en route to getting into the win column for the first time this year. After being jettisoned by the Twins earlier this season, the 25-year-old right-hander is up to seven scoreless frames covering two outings in bulk relief with the Blue Jays. Even so, Woods Richardson has a 6.75 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 30:28 K:BB over 54.2 innings on the campaign and could be relegated to mop-up duties more frequently once Shane Bieber (elbow) is ready to make his season debut.

Staked to an 8-5 lead, Webb allowed a home run to Kyle Karros in the top of the ninth inning, but the righty buckled in to secure his second save of the season. Webb got the first save opportunity in the absence of Daniel Palencia, who was placed on the injured list Tuesday with right elbow inflammation. It's unclear how long Palencia will ultimately be out, which could make Webb a good speculative add in the meantime.
