  • Jordan Walker RF | STL

Cardinals' Jordan Walker: Remains out Wednesday

Walker (knee) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Walker will hit the bench for a second straight game while he manages inflammation in his right knee. Jose Fermin will take over for Walker in right field and bat cleanup for St. Louis in Wednesday's series finale.

  • Troy Johnston RF | COL

Rockies' Troy Johnston: Sitting against RHP again

Johnston is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Since the beginning of July, Johnston has put together a lowly .156/.230/.203 slash line with only three extra-base hits (all doubles). His ongoing struggles at the dish appear to have cost him playing time, as he'll stick on the bench against a right-handed starter for the second straight day. The Rockies will once again go with Jordan Beck as a replacement in the lineup for Johnston, after Beck went 1-for-3 with a triple in Tuesday's 11-inning loss.

  • Drew Gilbert CF | SF

Giants' Drew Gilbert: Taking seat against lefty

Gilbert is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

The left-handed-hitting Gilbert will stay on the bench for the second day in a row while the Rangers send another southpaw (Cody Bradford) to the bump. Grant McCray will slide over to center field in place of Gilbert, while Eddys Leonard draws a second straight start in left field.

  • Kyle Tucker RF | LAD

Dodgers' Kyle Tucker: Reaches double-digit homers

Tucker went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to the Cubs on Tuesday.

Tucker collected half of the Dodgers' four hits and accounted for the team's only run with a second-inning solo blast, his 10th of the campaign. The veteran outfielder has come to life over the first two games of the series against his former club, going 4-for-6 to match the number of hits he had collected across his previous eight contests combined. Tucker remains in the lineup for Wednesday's early matchup, batting fifth and starting in right field.

  • Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Serving as DH on Wednesday

Crow-Armstrong will bat leadoff and start at designated hitter Wednesday against the Dodgers.

The Cubs will give Crow-Armstrong a day off his feet, but he'll remain in his usual spot in the batting order. Tyrone Taylor will cover center field and bat ninth for the Cubs.

  • Ryan Clifford LF | NYM

Mets' Ryan Clifford: Shelved at Triple-A

Triple-A Syracuse placed Clifford on the 7-day injured list Tuesday due to an unspecified injury.

Clifford, a 23-year-old first-base prospect, had been slashing .185/.277/.365 with 16 home runs and eight stolen bases over 406 plate appearances at Syracuse this season.

  • Dodgers' Teoscar Hernandez: Moving to bench Wednesday

Hernandez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Tommy Edman will draw a start in left field while Hernandez rests for a day game after a night game. Hernandez had been included in the lineup in each of the Dodgers' last 12 contests, slashing .341/.383/.614 with three home runs, nine runs and four RBI during that stretch.

  • Reds' Hector Rodriguez: Makes MLB debut

Rodriguez started in right field and went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Athletics.

Rodriguez was called up from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday and made his MLB debut. He nearly had his first major-league hit, but his shallow flare to left field was snared by A's shortstop Jacob Wilson. Rodriguez should get regular opportunities at both corner outfield spots as well as DH, which is open for a left-handed bat after the Reds traded Nathaniel Lowe to the Guardians on Monday.

  • Lars Nootbaar LF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Lars Nootbaar: Operates as DH in debut

Nootbaar served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-2 with two walks in Tuesday's 9-4 loss to San Diego.

Nootbaar made his debut for Arizona after the team acquired the left-handed-hitting outfielder from St. Louis prior to Monday's trade deadline. Even with injuries in the outfield, the Diamondbacks have a crowded picture there. Nootbaar is mainly a corner outfielder and will vie for time in left field with another lefty hitter, Max Kepler, when not working as the DH.

  • Jordan Lawlar CF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jordan Lawlar: Plays six innings Tuesday

Lawlar (hamstring) started in center field and went 0-for-3 in a rehab game Tuesday with Double-A Amarillo.

Lawlar played six innings Tuesday in his first game action since landing on the injured list June 20 due to a hamstring strain. He's slated to play another game for Amarillo on Wednesday before the organization determines his next steps.
