  • Roman Anthony LF | BOS

Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Progresses to batting cage

Anthony (wrist) took overhand pitching in the batting cage Tuesday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Anthony has progressed from hitting off a tee to taking underhand flips to Tuesday's work in the cage. There's a planned recovery day Wednesday before Anthony takes BP in the cage Thursday. Boston interim manager Chad Tracy said Anthony will be evaluated during this phase prior to determining next steps for the outfielder. The progression will include on-field batting practice and hitting off the Trajekt machine, which simulates major-league pitchers. After that, it's a rehab assignment.

  • Astros' Taylor Trammell: Launches three-run shot Tuesday

Trammell went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Tuesday's win over the Blue Jays.

Trammell took Chad Dallas deep in the fifth inning for his sixth long ball of the season, giving the Astros a lead they'd never relinquish. Trammell has launched three of his six homers over his last nine games and is batting .276 with a 1.068 OPS in that stretch.

  • Jo Adell RF | CLE

Guardians' Jo Adell: Debuts in Cleveland

Adell started in right field and went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Mets.

Adell made his debut for the Guardians after being acquired prior to Monday's trade deadline. Unfortunately for Cleveland, neither of his two hits came with runners in scoring position -- the team was 2-for-13 in such situations Tuesday. On a team starving for power, Adell should be a lineup regular during the Guardians' push for the postseason.

  • Reds' Hector Rodriguez: Makes MLB debut

Rodriguez started in right field and went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Athletics.

Rodriguez was called up from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday and made his MLB debut. He nearly had his first major-league hit, but his shallow flare to left field was snared by A's shortstop Jacob Wilson. Rodriguez should get regular opportunities at both corner outfield spots as well as DH, which is open for a left-handed bat after the Reds traded Nathaniel Lowe to the Guardians on Monday.

  • Lars Nootbaar LF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Lars Nootbaar: Operates as DH in debut

Nootbaar served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-2 with two walks in Tuesday's 9-4 loss to San Diego.

Nootbaar made his debut for Arizona after the team acquired the left-handed-hitting outfielder from St. Louis prior to Monday's trade deadline. Even with injuries in the outfield, the Diamondbacks have a crowded picture there. Nootbaar is mainly a corner outfielder and will vie for time in left field with another lefty hitter, Max Kepler, when not working as the DH.

  • Jordan Lawlar CF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jordan Lawlar: Plays six innings Tuesday

Lawlar (hamstring) started in center field and went 0-for-3 in a rehab game Tuesday with Double-A Amarillo.

Lawlar played six innings Tuesday in his first game action since landing on the injured list June 20 due to a hamstring strain. He's slated to play another game for Amarillo on Wednesday before the organization determines his next steps.

  • Luis Rengifo LF | SD

Padres' Luis Rengifo: Logs sixth steal

Rengifo went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

Rengifo has gone five games without a multi-hit effort, but he's drawn four walks and added two stolen bases in that span. The switch hitter continues to fill a utility role, though he has had a fair amount of success in pushing Gavin Sheets for time in left field. Overall, Rengifo is batting .237 with a .628 OPS, six steals, two home runs, 27 RBI and 32 runs scored over 74 contests between San Diego and Milwaukee.

  • Padres' Jackson Merrill: Provides three hits in win

Merrill went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

Merrill has logged five multi-hit efforts over his last 10 games, including a trio of three-hit performances. The outfielder has added nine RBI and two steals in that span. For the season, he's hitting .241 with a .691 OPS, 16 home runs, 54 RBI, 55 runs scored, 18 doubles, one triple and 22 stolen bases over 111 contests.

  • Riley Greene LF | DET

Tigers' Riley Greene: Goes yard Tuesday

Greene went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 8-0 win over the Mariners.

Greene had gone 0-for-14 with five walks over his previous four games, leading to a day off Sunday. The outfielder was one of four Tigers to put up multiple hits in Tuesday's contest. He's now batting .278 with an .831 OPS, 16 homers, 54 RBI, 61 runs scored, 24 doubles, one triple and three stolen bases over 111 contests. While Greene still has decent production overall, he's fallen far short of matching the promise he showed in a 36-homer, 111-RBI campaign during the 2025 regular season.

  • Wilyer Abreu RF | BOS

Red Sox's Wilyer Abreu: Rips two more home runs

Abreu went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs and a walk in Tuesday's 14-2 win over the White Sox.

Abreu took Davis Martin deep in the fifth inning before adding another solo shot off Erick Fedde in the eighth to raise his season total to 19 long balls. It was his third multi-homer game of the season and gave him four home runs over his last five contests. While Abreu is batting just .200 across 18 games since the All-Star break, eight of his 14 hits have left the yard.
