  • Corbin Carroll RF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: Battling back discomfort

Manager Torey Lovullo said after Tuesday's game against the Phillies that Carroll reported discomfort in his lower back, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.

The Diamondbacks don't seem overly concerned about Carroll's back, as he played the entirety of Tuesday's contest and is also expected to start Wednesday, but it could be something worth monitoring going forward. Jorge Barrosa would be a likely candidate to start in right field if Carroll were to miss any time.

  • Mariners' Randy Arozarena: Cracks three-run homer

Arozarena went 1-for-5 with a three-run homer during Tuesday's 9-6 win over the Red Sox.

Jedixson Paez made his major-league debut Tuesday, but the Mariners jumped on the Red Sox's 22-year-old right-hander with five runs in the second inning, three of which came off the bat of Arozarena on a homer over the Green Monster. Arozarena has gone 5-for-10 with two home runs, seven RBI and four runs scored through the first two games of the series against Boston. For the season, he has an .837 OPS with 20 steals, 22 home runs and 65 RBI over 566 plate appearances.

  • Lazaro Montes RF | SEA

Mariners' Lazaro Montes: Homers in big-league debut

Montes went 2-for-4 with an RBI single, a solo home run and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 9-6 win over Boston.

Montes was promoted from Triple-A Tacoma ahead of his major-league debut Tuesday, serving as the designated hitter. His RBI single in the third inning was his first big-league hit before he belted a 407-foot solo homer to center field in the fifth to give the Mariners a commanding 9-1 lead. Although he was the DH on Tuesday, Montes should see plenty of reps in right field given Taylor Ward's recent struggles at the plate.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Smacks another homer

Harris went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Atlanta's 9-5 loss to Washington on Tuesday.

Harris has gone deep in back-to-back games and is up to 24 homers on the year. He's been on a tear at the plate since mid-August, going 21-for-58 (.362) with three steals, four home runs and 12 RBI over his last 15 games. His .506 slugging percentage is tied with CJ Abrams for eighth-best in the National League among qualified batters.

  • Tyrone Taylor LF | CHC

Cubs' Tyrone Taylor: Stays locked-in Tuesday

Taylor went 1-for-2 with a double, a run scored and two RBI in Tuesday's 9-4 loss to the Brewers.

Taylor followed up a three-RBI night with another two RBI in Tuesday's contest as the outfielder stayed hot at the plate. He's now batting .413 in 19 games with the Cubs, giving his new team a much -needed boost beyond his strong defense. Taylor is particularly good against lefties, as he's sporting a .942 OPS in those matchups this year, but he's been solid against righties too, which has given his fantasy value a boost.

  • James Wood RF | WAS

Nationals' James Wood: Expected back Wednesday

Wood (oblique) is expected to be activated from the injured list Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.

Manager Blake Butera said that Wood's return is contingent on him feeling good when he wakes up Wednesday morning, but chances are that he returns to the Nationals' lineup for their series finale against Atlanta. The 23-year-old has slashed .265/.393/.535 across 535 plate appearances when healthy this season, though he owns just a .620 OPS in the 17 games he's played since the All-Star break.

  • Nationals' Andrew Pinckney: Relegated to Triple-A

The Nationals optioned Pinckney to Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

With James Wood (oblique) expected to return from the injured list Wednesday, the Nationals will send Pinckney down to Triple-A to free up a roster spot. The 25-year-old performed well during his first stint with the big club, going 6-for-22 with a homer, two RBI, six runs and a steal while appearing in 13 games.

  • Daulton Varsho CF | HOU

Astros' Daulton Varsho: Not in Tuesday's lineup
