  • Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Blanks Cincy for 14th win

Yamamoto (14-8) picked up the win in Tuesday's 4-0 victory over the Reds, allowing one hit and two walks over seven scoreless innings. He struck out seven.

The right-hander uncharacteristically walked the first two batters he faced, but Yamamoto would let only one other batter reach base before exiting after 91 pitches (55 strikes). The quality start was his 21st of the season, tied for the major-league lead with the Marlins' Sandy Alcantara, and over 10 starts since the All-Star break, Yamamoto has reeled off a 1.98 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 72:16 K:BB in 68.1 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in what will likely be his final outing of the regular season, at home early next week against the Padres.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Cubs' Kevin Gausman: Solid in no-decision

Gausman didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against Atlanta after allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six over 5.2 innings. He did not issue a walk.

Gausman was dominant for most of his outing, retiring 16 of the first 18 hitters he faced as the Cubs built a 3-0 lead in the early stages of the game. His lone mistake came in the sixth, when Ronald Acuna smashed a two-run homer to cut Chicago's lead to one. Gausman then departed after recording the second out, and Daniel Palencia finished the inning before the Cubs' bullpen surrendered the lead in the later innings. Gausman has been hit or miss of late, allowing two runs or fewer in two of his last four starts but also giving up five or more in the other two in that stretch. The veteran owns a 4.86 ERA in three September starts and is lined up to make his next start at home against the Marlins next week.

  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Braves' Martin Perez: Secures 100th career win Tuesday

Perez (9-9) earned the win Tuesday against the Cubs after allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks while striking out two over six innings.

Perez worked around traffic while Atlanta's offense took time to get going, falling behind 3-0 through four innings. The veteran kept the Cubs scoreless over his final two frames, however, giving Atlanta an opportunity to rally on Ronald Acuna's two-run homer in the sixth and Ozzie Albies' go-ahead shot in the seventh. The victory was the 100th of Perez's career, and he lowered his ERA to 3.07 through 28 starts. He's been pitching well lately and has given up two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five outings, posting a 2.73 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in that stretch.

  • Connelly Early SP | WAS

Nationals' Connelly Early: Labors through first rehab start

Early (elbow) was charged with three runs on two hits and two walks over one inning in his first rehab start with Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

Making his first appearance since late June, Early showed considerable rust in needing 35 pitches to get through his lone inning of work. He averaged 93 mph with his four-seamer in the outing, which is one mph less than his average for the season. As long as Early recovers well from the start, he could make his Nationals debut next week. It would be an abbreviated outing but could offer the southpaw some peace of mind with his health heading into the offseason. Early missed nearly three months with left elbow inflammation.

  • Sean Manaea SP | NYM

    Mets' Sean Manaea: No-decision Tuesday

Manaea didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Orioles after allowing two runs on four hits while striking out six over 5.1 innings. He did not issue a walk.

Manaea surrendered solo homers to Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Jeremiah Jackson in the second inning but otherwise kept the Orioles quiet. More encouragingly, he didn't issue a walk for a second straight start and has done a good job of limiting free passes of late with just two walks in his last four starts and 21.2 innings. Manaea owns a 5.36 ERA since the beginning of August, and this marked his first outing since Aug. 9 with fewer than four runs allowed.

  • Mike Soroka SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Michael Soroka: Works up to five frames

Soroka allowed one run on two hits and a walk while striking out six over five innings in a no-decision versus the Marlins on Tuesday.

Soroka stretched out to 80 pitches (53 strikes) in his second appearance back from a shoulder injury, up from 58 pitches in his relief outing last week. The right-hander has allowed four runs over nine innings since his return. He's now at a 3.45 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 101:26 K:BB across 104.1 innings over 20 games (19 starts) this season. Soroka has won the battle for a rotation spot down the stretch since Zac Gallen was demoted to the bullpen Sunday. Soroka's next outing is projected to be in Colorado.

  • Janson Junk SP | MIA

Marlins' Janson Junk: Goes three innings

Junk allowed a run on five hits and a walk while striking out four over three innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Junk threw 49 of 72 pitches for strikes in the short start. The 30-year-old is winless over his last seven appearances, giving up 14 runs across 26.1 innings with a 14:7 K:BB in that span. Overall, he has a 4.50 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 78:31 K:BB through 114 innings over 24 games (23 starts) this year. He is projected to make his next start on the road versus the Cubs.

  • Padres' Walker Buehler: Labors again Tuesday

Buehler allowed two runs on seven hits, one walk and one hit batsman while striking out one over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Tuesday.

That's four straight no-decisions for Buehler, who has given up eight runs over 17 innings in that stretch. While he's not pitching poorly, he has been tagged for five home runs in that span. He's also up to 143.1 innings in the majors this year, his most in any campaign since 2021. He's posted a 4.58 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 122:54 K:BB across 30 starts in 2026. Buehler is projected to make his next start at home versus the Marlins over the weekend.

  • Ryan Feltner SP | COL

Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Works in bulk relief

Feltner (6-10) allowed three hits and a walk while striking out five over five scoreless innings of relief to earn the win over the Padres on Tuesday.

Feltner stayed on normal rest for this appearance out of the bullpen, having last pitched Thursday versus the Yankees. He had lost his last five outings as a starter, posting a 6.93 ERA over 24.2 innings in that span. The right-hander is at a 5.63 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 88:50 K:BB through 116.2 innings over 24 games (22 starts) this season. While the Rockies' pitching plans are in flux going forward, Feltner's success in bulk relief could put him in a position to piggyback Kyle Freeland again as the latter ends the year on a limited workload due to a recent stint on the injured list.

  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Works four innings in return

Freeland allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out one without walking a batter over four-plus innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Tuesday.

Freeland returned from a stint on the injured list due to cervical radiculopathy and threw 50 pitches (36 strikes). All three runs he gave up came on solo home runs. Ryan Feltner covered the last five innings, and with Freeland not at a full workload, a piggyback arrangement could be in store for his next turn through the rotation. Freeland has a 6.38 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 104:28 K:BB through 128.1 innings over 24 starts this season.
