Jacob Webb RP | CHC
Cubs' Jacob Webb: Serves up home run, takes loss Tuesday
Webb (6-5) took the loss Tuesday against Atlanta, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk while retiring only two batters out of the bullpen.
Staked to a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh inning, Webb served up a two-run home run to Ozzie Albies, which was ultimately the deciding play in the game before Atlanta tacked on two more run for a 6-3 win. The righty reliever has been scuffling lately, as he's allowed two or more earned runs in five of his last eight appearances, and he has a brutal 14.85 ERA during the stretch. Webb has mostly been good this year for the Cubs overall, though he's not carrying much momentum into the postseason, and he may slot into more of a middle-relief role once the playoffs begin.

Jared Simpson RP | WAS
Nationals' Jared Simpson: Starting bullpen game
Simpson will serve as the Nationals' opening pitcher in a bullpen game Wednesday against the Phillies, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.
Washington will lean on its bullpen to get through Wednesday's series finale in an effort to buy some extra rest for Cade Cavalli, who has already pitched 164.2 innings this season. Simpson will take the mound to begin the game, despite coughing up three runs without recording an out in his last appearance. He'll likely remain in the game for a few frames before turning things over to another reliever.

Erik Tolman RP | WAS
Nationals' Erik Tolman: Logs another save
Tolman earned the save in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Phillies after tossing a scoreless ninth inning.
Tolman didn't record a strikeout, but he also didn't issue a hit nor a walk, needing only 13 pitches (eight strikes) to close out the win for Washington. He has logged three saves (in four chances) over his last six outings, and Tolman and Jack Sinclair both appear to be in the mix for save opportunities over the last couple of weeks of the regular season.

C.J. Abrams SS | WAS
Nationals' CJ Abrams: Battling neck tightness
Abrams didn't play in Tuesday's game against the Phillies due to neck tightness, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.
Abrams has recorded multiple hits in each of his last three games, but neck issues prevented him from contributing to Washington's 6-3 win over the Phillies on Tuesday. The Nationals haven't indicated that the 25-year-old will need to spend time on the injured list due to the neck issue, but Nasim Nunez could be in line to make additional starts at shortstop if Abrams' injury continues to bother him.

Jackson Kent SP | WAS
Nationals' Jackson Kent: Yields three runs in no-decision
Kent did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Phillies, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four across five innings.
Kent gave up one run in each of the first, third and fifth innings of Tuesday's start, with the last being on a Kyle Schwarber solo home run. Kent has seven major-league starts under his belt since making his big-league debut Aug. 12, and he's given up at least three earned runs in six of those outings. He figures to see at least two more turns in the rotation before the regular season concludes, with his next appearance lined up for this weekend on the road against the Cardinals.
