  • Grant McCray RF | SF

Giants' Grant McCray: Doubles in defeat

McCray went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Monday's 2-1 loss to the Cardinals.

McCray logged San Francisco's only extra-base hit with a leadoff double in the sixth inning, and he came around to score the team's lone run later that inning. The 25-year-old has recorded at least one hit in three of his last five games and is batting .235 with four runs scored, a home run and a stolen base in 19 plate appearances this month. Overall, he's slashing .147/.256/.294 with 12 runs scored, five stolen bases, three RBI and two long balls across 81 plate appearances this season.

  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Homers again

De La Cruz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Dodgers.

De La Cruz mashed his sixth homer and 10th extra-base hit in the last nine games, which is the latest in a longer stretch of offense from the shortstop. Over the last 21 contests, De La Cruz has a .419/.468/.767 slash line with nine doubles, seven home runs, three steals, 15 RBI and 21 runs scored.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Rockies' Jose Quintana: Completes second rehab appearance

Quintana (elbow) struck out a batter and allowed three earned runs on five hits and no walks across 2.1 innings Sunday in a rehab start with Triple-A Albuquerque.

Making the second appearance of his rehab assignment, Quintana tossed 47 pitches (32 strikes). The Rockies could have Quintana continue building up over one more rehab start before bringing him back from the 60-day injured list at some point during the final week of the season. Before hitting the shelf May 25 due to a left elbow sprain, Quintana went 2-3 with a 5.27 ERA and 1.51 WHIP over nine starts with Colorado.

  • Juan Brito 2B | CIN

Reds' Juan Brito: Makes third straight start

Brito started at second base and went 1-for-3 in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Dodgers.

Brito filled in at second base for a third consecutive game as Matt McLain (shoulder) remained sidelined. The latest word on McLain, per MLB.com, is that he's improving and will not undergo imaging at this time. Brito has hit safely in all three starts, going 5-for-11 with one double, one home run and three RBI.

  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: On track to start Tuesday

Freeland (neck) will be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Padres at Coors Field, MLB.com reports.

On the shelf since Aug. 24 due to cervical radiculopathy, Freeland has been cleared to rejoin the Rockies rotation after striking out five over three no-hit innings during his lone rehab start with Double-A Hartford last Wednesday. Given that the 33-year-old southpaw tossed just 47 pitches in his rehab start, he'll likely be operating with a restricted workload Tuesday. After the upcoming outing versus the Padres, Freeland will line up for just one more start this season before heading into unrestricted free agency this offseason.

  • Pavin Smith 1B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Pavin Smith: Makes second start since return

Smith served as the designated hitter and went 1-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 8-7 win over the Marlins.

Smith doubled and scored on a double steal in the bottom of the third inning, when the Diamondbacks erased Miami's early 3-0 lead. This was the second start in three games for the left-handed hitter, who had his contract selected from Triple-A Reno on Saturday. The Diamondbacks are well aware of their lackluster numbers against right-handed pitching, and Smith could help give those metrics a boost as the primary DH.

  • Jonah Tong SP | NYM

Mets' Jonah Tong: Excellent in no-decison

Tong allowed an unearned run over six innings in a no-decision against Baltimore on Monday. He gave up four hits and one walk while striking out six batters.

Tong yielded a run in the second inning, but he wasn't charged with an earned run since a passed ball contributed to the tally. Outside of that frame, the right-hander gave up just two hits and no runs across his other five innings. Tong racked up 13 whiffs among his 83 pitches and finished with the first quality start of his career. This was just his fifth outing and second start in the majors this year, as the 23-year-old has spent the majority of the campaign with Triple-A Syracuse. Given his performance Monday, Tong is likely to get at least another turn in the rotation. He's next slated to take the mound in a tough home matchup versus Philadelphia.

Adding to his big day, the third baseman swiped second base in the eighth inning after reaching on a fielder's choice. Sanoja has been on an extended tear at the plate, slashing .339/.378/.571 with five homers, 21 RBI, 17 runs and five stolen bases over his past 30 games. The 24-year-old has put together a quietly strong 2026 campaign overall, hitting .293/.333/.454 with nine homers, 63 RBI, 47 runs and 11 stolen bases in 133 contests.
