The final planned day of the 2014 regular season is upon us, and we know four division champs (AL East: Orioles; AL West: Angels; NL East: Nationals; NL West: Dodgers) and one of the NL wild cards (Giants). We don't know who'll win the Centrals, and we don't know the other three wild card entrants.

In other words, Sunday's intrigue merits a live-blog on our part, so we'll be here to cover the full slate of Game 162 day baseball (live Sunday scoreboard) ...

And that's a wrap! As it turns out, the postseason bracket is unchanged from this morning ...

Here are your final standings, here's your playoff schedule, and here's Juan Uribe, who's 1-0 as a big-league manager ...

Happy playoffs!

So how did the Cardinals celebrate winning the NL Central? They scratched Adam Wainwright from his scheduled start ...

No worries, as they prevailed anyway (STL 1, ARI 0) and notched their 90th win of the season.

There's also this, of course ...

Important "Juan Uribe is managing the Dodgers" photographic update ...

Juan Uribe.

Here are the A's clinching the final AL playoff berth. They'll face the Royals in KC on Tuesday in the AL wild card game ...

Here's Paul Konerko walking off the field for the final time. Good career, great guy.

Here are the Tigers celebrating their fourth straight division title ...

Important "Juan Uribe Managerial Menswear" update ...

So the A's (up 2-0 over the Rangers at this writing) will see Derek Holland after all ...

You need to know that Juan Uribe is managing the Dodgers today. You also need to know that Juan Uribe is wearing Don Mattingly's jersey today ...

You also need to know this ...

If you don't like Juan Uribe, then you have bad opinions.

With the Pirates' loss to the Reds on Sunday (CIN 4, PIT 1 -- also Johnny Cueto's 20th win of the season), the Cardinals have hereby clinched the NL Central. They'll meet the Dodgers in the NLDS, which will be a rematch of last year's NLCS. The Pirates, meantime, will host the Giants on Wednesday in the NL wild card game.

The Tigers prevailed over the Twins by a score of 3-0 on Sunday, and that means they've won the AL Central for a fourth straight season. They'll advance to the ALDS to face the Orioles, while the Royals will play in the AL wild card game against either the A's or Mariners.

So here's Steven Souza making the last out of Jordan Zimmermann's no-hitter in ridiculous fashion ...

That's a rookie, folks.

Hey, the Nats' Jordan Zimmermann no-hit the Marlins!

And here's your A's-Rangers "win probability" graph ...

Your clubhouse leader for Tweet of the Day? Give it to Ashley Kelly, wife of Red Sox starter Joe Kelly ...

Well done, Paulie ...

If we wind up needing one or more tiebreakers on Monday, then here's the schedule ...

And here it is: The final at-bat of Derek Jeter's career. You'll find it's a fitting result.

Worth noting!

At this writing, three super-important games are in progress, so let's enjoy a necessary viewing tool. Courtesy of FanGraphs, here's your updating "win probability chart for the Twins-Tigers game ...

Here's a link to the Jeter pregame ceremony at Fenway Park. Also included: a tweet from Lou Merloni!

Jemile Weeks, uncooperative Boston infielder ...

One of the last times we'll see this ...

So here's a potential break for the A's ...

Holland was slated to go on Saturday, but a migraine kept him out. More of the same today.

This season, Holland has a 1.31 ERA and 6.00 K/BB ratio after five starts, while the rookie Martinez has pitched to a 4.61 ERA and 1.36 K/BB ratio in 28 games, 23 of which have been starts.

Needless to say, the Mariners are doing their level-best to inspire Mr. Martinez ...

We'll soon post video of the pre-game cermony to honor Derek Jeter at Fenway, but here's one of the highlights ...

Some good news for the Cardinals ...

The first two games of critical importance are now underway. Here's your MIN-DET GameTracker and your PIT-CIN Gametracker

Something to keep in mind regarding the NL Central ... The Cardinals start three hours after the Pirates do, so St. Louis may have some clarity by that point. If the Pirates have lost to the Reds, then the Cards may be able to give Adam Wainwright a low-pressure, "just stay in rhythm" five innings or so, lining him up for Game 1 of the NLDS against the Dodgers. If the Pirates have already won, then it's of course "must win" mode for Mike Matheny and the Cards.

Not that we were in any danger of forgetting, but today is also Derek Jeter's final game. Here he is in the lineup for the last time in his superlative career ...

UPDATE: Welp, it seems Jose Altuve has talked his way into the Astros' starting lineup (as noted below, the current AL batting leader was originally on the bench for the season finale against the Mets) ...

Game 162 GIF quiz/poll!

While viewing the forthcoming moving image, please ponder two questions: 1) Does the seal, lost in a perilous state of assumption, represent the Tigers, Cardinals, Athletics or a fated amalgam of all three?; 2) Is the polar bear's blood-lust most like that of the Royals, Pirates, Mariners or all of these teams? This is important, of course ...

Current AL batting leader Jose Altuve of the Astros isn't in the lineup for Sunday's largely meaningless finale against the Mets. Presently, he leads Victor Martinez of the Tigers by a margin of .340 to .337 in that race for the AL batting title. Altuve's absence obviously means that V-Mart will need an especially big day at the plate in order to catch him. As Brian McTaggart tweets, Altuve said he wanted to be in the lineup and that the decision wasn't his.

If Altuve's lead holds up, then he'll become the first Astro ever to win a batting title -- AL or NL. Meanwhile, Martinez is trying to become the fourth straight Tiger to claim the title, as teammate Miguel Cabrera has won the last three AL crowns.

Courtesy of our playoff picture page, here's how the postseason bracket will look if the current standings hold up through Sunday (note: as detailed below, the current standings may very well not hold up through Sunday) ...

As noted below, the Cardinals have some high-stakes baseball to play today. Here's a little something to inspire them ...

You're welcome!

By way of reminder, here's what's at stake today ...

•The Cardinals will clinch the NL Central title with a win over the Diamondbacks (STL-ARI preview) OR a Pirates loss to the Reds (PIT-CIN preview). If the Pirates win and the Cardinals lose, then the two teams will play a tiebreaker on Monday in St. Louis, with the loser playing the wild card game against the Giants.

•The Tigers will clinch the AL Central title with a win over the Twins (MIN-DET preview) OR a Royals loss to the White Sox (KC-CHW preview). If the Royals win and the Tigers lose, then the two teams will play a tiebreaker on Monday in Detroit, with the loser going to the AL wild card game.

•The Athletics will clinch the remaining AL wild card berth with a win over the Rangers (OAK-TEX preview) OR a Mariners loss to the Angels (LAA-SEA preview). If the A's lose and the Mariners win, then the two division rivals will play a tiebreaker on Monday in Seattle to determine who plays in the wild card game against the AL Central runner-up.

•In the race for the NL batting title, Justin Morneau of the Rockies (.319) leads Josh Harrison of the Pirates (.318) by a single point.

•When Reds ace Johnny Cueto takes the mound against the Pirates, he'll be going for his 20th win of the season.

•Mariners ace Felix Hernandez, who starts against the Angels, trails Chris Sale of the White Sox 2.18 to 2.17 in the race for the AL ERA title. Sale would become the first White Sox pitcher to win the AL ERA title since Joe Horlen in 1967.
