The Athletics and C George Kottaras have avoided arbitration with a one-year contract agreement, the club announced Monday.
Kottaras hit .211/.351/.415 (108 OPS+) between the Brewers and Athletics in 2012. In a career-high 85 games, he tied his career-best in home runs (9) and set career-bests in OBP, OPS+, walks (37) and RBI (31).
Kottaras, 29, is likely to back up Derek Norris in Oakland next season.
